Episode 1: The West Olves

The West Olves, historically known as the West Owves or Helva Madou in Sertian, is the westernmost island, across the Olven Channel. Whilst it is also called the Nay'Duns, that is a more modern name given to it by English-speaking settlers in the early 1600s, which is a corruption of 'nigh dunes'.

The main biome in the West Olves is an inland swale, which consists of low, thick evergreen plants that can withstand many drastic changes in temperature, and endure without water for weeks. However, in the valleys where the climate is more temperate, deciduous trees grow in the small medieval villages.

In pre-Sertia, the West Olves were home to the Meisur, a nomadic population who lived in relative order and peace. They had extensive trade routes throughout the island, and, like the rest of Gadalland and Aspern, prospered off the fishing industry.

The West Olves were never truly involved in the conflicts that raged through the pre-Sertian mainland before the 1200s, due to its separation from the mainland and the fact those who lived on the mainland viewed it from the folklore they'd heard of demons and witches. Their economy, therefore, was quite insular, and much of the ancient architecture is still well-preserved.

The West Olves did not join the new Six Unions until 1240, when the Olvish people decided they would benefit from this new union, defensively and economically. However, the West Olves, known at that point as Helva, wanted to retain its sovereignty and government structure.

Verna II of Osperfey sent her eldest daughter, Endra, as the ambassador to Helva from Gadalland and Aspern. In the early 1300s, Helva joined Gadalland and Aspern and has since been called the West Olves.

The largest town in the West Olves today is known as Rasden, but the Olvish name is Hhaylafbakathyal. It is now a popular getaway for Sertian travellers, but was once an important military stronghold for the Olvish, built right before joining the Six Unions. This was to ensure Helva had a host city for diplomats and representatives from Sertia.

The West Olves is the source of wine for Sertia, and produces the finest Sertian wine and spirit in the country. Some notable names are Avol, Copna and Old Helven, which you can find in many restaurants around Gadalland and Aspern.

Itinerary for a long weekend holiday

Never been to the West Olves? This itinerary hits all the important bits, and more, in 4 days.

Day 1: Friday

Arrive into Rasden via ferry from Plariaras or Diagonathroe, or through West Olves Airport if you're coming from somewhere other than Gadalland and Aspern. Get to your accommodation, and get sorted Go have some stewed Tilapia and a glass of Avol or three

Day 2: Saturday

Stay in Rasden for the morning to see the Parade of the Arda, an ancient Olven celebration of rest, which happens mornings on Saturdays. Then nip off to a cafe and grab a pastry.

Afterwards, grab a coach to the beach, and stay awhile! The water in the Olven Channel is notoriously Heavenly, and the Sun guarantees a fresh tan! Unlike the mainland, the West Olves have more automobile transport, which means no more of those slow horses!

Visit Henry's Beach, a restaurant (you guessed it!) right on the ocean with a lovely view, and sand for a floor.

Day 3: Sunday

If you don't get a four day holiday, file a Layeonic suit. But first, have a hearty breakfast at your accommodation, or go to Shinie's Diner before you head to the airport.

Grab a coach going West, and stop off in Baral, a small town famous for it's wine. Any age can have a taste, as there is no official drinking age in the West Olves! Have a walk along the Western Ocean trail, which goes through Baral and along the sea. Pop off to the oceanfront, which offers a more quiet, and wild, sea-going experience. Explore the ancient ruins of Perengot Castle, or in Helven, Ribahjinda, situated on a hill.

Off you get! Time to get back to real life. Get the ferry to Diagonathroe or Plariaras, knowing in your heart you are always welcome back to the West Olves!

On the Caribbean Joint Immigration Scheme

On 1 June, 2022, the Caribbean will adopt the newly passed Caribbean Joint Immigration Scheme.

This plan sets a baseline eligibility for incoming foreign nationals in order to make the Caribbean more accessible.

The specific categories pertaining to the purpose of travel will be eliminated and thus replaced with duration-based permissions.

Please see the specific details below:

Your situation
There are three situations in which permission will be granted for entry after 1 June, 2022 to the Caribbean:

Condition 1 - Short stay: less than 6 months
Condition 2 - Long stay: greater than 6 months
Condition 3 - ARC: Asylum, Refuge, Circumstances not considered

Eligibility for all categories:
To be eligible for any of the permissions below, you must

Undergo a security check, such as proving your identity Check you don't already have permission to be in the Caribbean, such as a Sertian or Nofoagan citizen does

Condition 1: Short stay

Persons subject to Ambassador Act 2021 do not need to apply for Condition 1 permission before travelling to the Caribbean.

Persons subject to Rolling Sanctions Act 2021 may be ineligible for this permission.

This permission allows you to come to the Caribbean for a period of less than 6 months.
On a short stay permission, you can:

Visit, such as tourism or visiting family Study a short-term course at a school or university, including exchange or study abroad Receive private medical treatment

Other purposes are eligible for a short-term permission, but you must prove:

You have funds to support yourself You have any relevant documentation that more clearly states your purpose You will not conduct long-term business or employment for a Caribbean company

You can come to the Caribbean to work short-term, but it cannot be considered Skilled Work. Read more about Skilled Work on the Citizens' Services Office page.

Condition 2: Long stay
This permission allows you to come to the Caribbean for a period greater than 6 months.

On a long stay permission, you can

Live indefinitely in the Caribbean Work, including Skilled Work Study Access public benefits

Proving your intentions

To prove your intentions, you will usually need to:

Provide a letter of sponsorship from a business, university, or person that has been certified by the Caribbean Common Community Commission. It must be signed, dated, and sealed by your sponsor and the CCCC.

Prove you have funds to support yourself, usually at least £5,000 for less than a year, and £10,000 for each year you plan to stay.

Prove you are being paid at least £1.00/hour, if you are working

The duration of long stay permission varies based on your intentions. The maximum amount of time you can spend on long stay permission is 5 years. You may apply for new permission or apply for permanent settlement after 5 years.

To get a certified letter of sponsorship, it must be mailed to you by your sponsor in paper or digital format. The certificate will instruct you where to take your letter of sponsorship to be certified.

When you take your letter for certification, you may also be given a security check.

Condition 3: ARC

To be granted Asylum means that you have permission to stay in the Caribbean on a temporary basis, based on compassionate circumstances. The permission you will be given to stay is usually up to 36 months, and can be extended.

To be granted Refuge means that you have permission to remain in the Caribbean without duration-based conditions. In other words, there is no specific date in which you need to leave the Caribbean, based on your circumstances.

You are usually eligible to apply for Asylum when you arrive in the Caribbean. You will automatically be considered for Refuge when you apply.

An Open Letter to Copalans and Anastasians

My friends,

The world watched in anguish as your struggle for freedom and peaceful living was once again crushed by events earlier this year. You have come far, travelled across the continent, you were promised much, and yet fate and negligence have been a cruel master to you from day one.

You wisely escaped from Copala City and the cruel clutches of Reitzmic authoritarianism and autocracy, yet you seem to have escaped from the frying pan into the fire. The Duchian government is, to put it at its mildest, incapable of giving you the rights and privileges you deserve.

Several years ago, the legitimate Nicolezian government conferred on me the Lordship of the Supreme Ordene of Icholasen, one of the greatest honours ever bestowed on me by a foreign power, and one which I still take to heart every day. Your plight, citizens of Anastasia City, is my plight.

When your new city was once again rocked by violence and destruction, the Imperial Government made clear those of you who truly wish to escape your current state of despair are welcome to settle in the Empire of Inimicus, and today I reiterate this invitation.

The Empire's gates are open to you. Response to the address by the Spanish Prime Minister

In light of the aggressive and threatening remarks by the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, Jesús Aguilar, with regards to the Ineland-sponsored Freedom of Navigation Act that is currently being debated in the European Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has adopted the following measures:

Recalling of the Ambassador of the United Principalities of Ineland to the Kingdom of Spain for consultations for an undefined period of time; Partial suspension of all economic cooperation with the Kingdom of Spain; Cancellation of all negotiations on military hardware acquisition from the Kingdom of Spain.

On behalf of the Government of the United Principalities of Ineland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to express its utmost shock at the attitudes expressed by the Government of the Kingdom of Spain. The Government considers that membership of an organisation such as the European Union entails a series of obligations, such as proper debate and democratic handling of disputes through appropriate channels, which the Government of the Kingdom of Spain doesn't seem keen on abiding by.

AN ALLIANCE WITH THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CZECH SLAVIA

March 25, 2022,

The Most Blessed State of Inquista and the Democratic Republic of Czech Slavia have agreed to establish a defensive-pact and alliance between the two states. The Most Blessed State of Inquista stands ready to the defend the Czech motherland and her people against any and all threats which may threaten their sovereign lands. Likewise, the Most Blessed State looks forward to the strategic partnership that the Democratic Republic will offer in keeping Inquista and her people safe.

This alliance and defensive-pact is a logical and necessary step in the deepening relations between the Most Blessed State and the Democratic Republic, which both continue to prioritise the lasting peace and security of the centre of Europe.

CLOSURE OF JOINT BASE INQUISTA

In light of recent changes to Fremetian military operations and interests on the continent, the Forsvarsdepartement (at the direction of the High Council) has elected to close the Fremetian tri-service base in Inquista.

As Fremet's largest single overseas installation supporting thousands of servicemembers and their families in Fremet's air, army, and naval forces, the closure will be phased in over the course of the year.

The Fremetian Mediterranean Fleet, currently based out of JBI, will be merged with the 4th Fleet, based out of Rhodenheim. Fremetian naval activity in the Black Sea will be dialed back progressively as the base closure moves forward. The transfer of task force and fleet operations to the 4th Fleet will be effective 31 March 2022.

Air Force squadrons stationed at JBI will be transferred to operations facilities in Vayinaod. Transfer of operations will be completed on 30 April 2022.

Army operations at JBI will be phased out progressively, with Army Southern Command being transferred to Fort Eze by 15 April 2022. Army personnel will remain to assist the Fremetiansk Statssikkerhet in the evacuation of all Fremetian property and materiel out of the facility.

Operations at the base will cease entirely on 30 May 2022, at which time the FSS and FD will conduct land clearance and obstacle removal at the site to prepare it for real estate development.

At noon local time on 25 December 2022, JBI will be transferred back to the control of the government of Inquista.

We thank the Inquistan people for supporting and hosting us in our endeavors in our time at JBI and hope to continue our productive working relationship moving forward. JBI has been an invaluable asset to the Republic, and the generosity of the Inquistan people in allowing us to construct a facility in their homeland will not be forgotten.

The time has come for Fremet to end the chapter of entangling itself in the workings of the Black Sea.

God's giving of authority is necessarily total and undivided as a result of His nature; therefore, his appointed authority on Earth so too has total authority, which cannot be challenged without also challenging God Himself.
