Proposed by Rhine Ruhr :: Passed (12-0) January 25th, 2012 :: As amended by Rhine Ruhr (7-1), February 24th, 2013
PREAMBLE
This Act establishes a European Highway Numbering System in the effort to ease regional travel on major highways.
SECTION I. REGULATIONS OF THE ACT
-
The Council shall commission (an) independent firm(s) to install identifying numbered signs to major European highways.
-
Highways that will be numbered are those that are considered major. Major highways include those that cross state lines, accommodate for heavy use, and those that lead toward highly popular destinations.
-
These roads shall maintain their local identity. The local and national identifiers will remain with the road, just with the addition of a European identification number.
-
Periodic maintenance of road signs will occur. Signs found to be heavily damaged or unintelligible will be replaced.
SECTION II. OVERSIGHT
-
Any independent body commissioned to carry out the numbering of European Highways will be subjected to oversight by the office of the Internal Affairs Commissioner.
-
Firms will be appointed by the Internal Affairs Commissioner with the approval of the European Council.
