Iyori Today (李与里今日)
Parliament to grant a referendum on Eurozone Monetary Union
Parliament has for weeks been weighing up the pros and cons about whether or not to adopt the Euro as Iyori?s national currency. However weeks of indecision has amongst the major parties caused individual party stances on the issue to ookf for a decision to be made else ware and instead of succumbing to yet more grid lock President Hideki Genai has issuedto quote in his words ?Let the Iyorian people do what parliament could not and make a decision on whether we should adopt a new National currency.?
The various parliamentary positions according to many parliamentary leaders as such. The first coming from Permier Shinji Kumino himself; who is also the Chairman of the Labour Party said.
?We in the Labour Party think that it would make more sense to switch to the Euro as it is a weaker currency, but our economy is dependent on the growth of our exports, and our customers abroad will be able to purchase more of our goods and invest in some assets here thus pumping more money into our economy.?
Green Coalition Chairman issued a statement on behalf of all GC MP?s on the matter which seem to agree with the Premier?s statement.
?We think that having the Euro as a currency would stimulate our export driven economy if goods and assets are cheaper on the foreign exchange market, and the standardisation of not having to always convert and exchange to purchase foreign assets within the region would save tones of time and money in exchange commission fees.?
However not everyone within parliament shared the same views Progressive Conservative opposition leader Kyoji Ado has some issues with this proposal.
?We need to regear our economy to more domestic consumption rather than keep relying on exports to foreign markets, this proposal will bring about more exports yes, but it will also just delay economic stagnation, and it will also be more expensive for us in Iyori to purchase foreign assets which would be a source for and another source of government revenue to ease the tax burden on Iyorian tax payers.?
