Ministry of Defense Enacts Total Re-fit of Embria's Military
by Lt. Francis Young
Defense Minister Alan North.
Defense Minister Alan North said in an official statement released on Monday, 6 February that our kingdom's military was preparing to undergo a complete re-fit of all of its systems and ordnance.
Included in this servicewide re-fit will be replacement of the older ECR-5 combat assault rifles with new ECR-27, Embrian Defense Solution's licensed model of the HK 416 (the HK 417 rifle, chambered in 7.62 will become the standard infantry marksman rifle), as well as the introduction of licensed versions of HK's MG4 and HK121. Also, aging Browning Hi-Power service pistols are being swapped for the HK USP .45, and the Benelli M4 will become the new shotgun, used for security and breaching operations.

Elsewhere, older Leopard 2A4 tanks will be upgraded to the brand new 2A7+ standard. The Gurkha LAPV, produced in the kingdom by Holt Motors Military division will become the infantry vehicle of choice (mounted with a single M312 heavy machine gun), supplemented by Puma Infantry Fighting Vehicles.

The air force will likely retain a number of its older Harriers and Tornadoes, but they will largely be replaced by F-35 multirole fighters. These new planes are exceptionally versatile and are able to fulfill several purposes, including air-to-air combat and ground attack.
Two new helicopters being introduced are the Eurocopter AS565 Panther multi-purpose helicopter and the AgustaWestland AW101 medium-lift transport helicopter. Both are being produced under license in Embria by the Bachmann-Taylor Aerospace Corporation.

Our brown-water navy will receive fewer changes, mostly related to hardware upgrades and newer weapons systems.
All branches of service will be outfitted with the Modern Combat Uniform using the Embrian Camouflage Pattern. The MCU is designed to be versatile, meant to be worn in any terrain, whether it be mountainous, urban, desert, or forested.

These changes are meant to make the kingdom's military ready in any scenario, outfitted for the strains of modern warfare. The entire project is planned to cost somewhere around ?20 billion.
