Montague, Strasbourg-. 20 August, 2018
The Kingdom of Montenbourg under His Majesty's Foreign Office welcomes to the European Union The Popular Democratic Free Socialist Republic of Bradstowe, Thanet, and Surrounding Conurbations. We extend a warm welcome to your nation. And in the hopes of our countries to work together for a better Europe.
Rt. Hon. Elizabeth McCörd
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Statement from the Federal Office of the Duxburian Union, Office of the Aelir:This is Dante Maximillian, Steward of the Duxburian Union. Recent positions taken by Montenbourg's government and its candidate for Premier of the European Union have been quite alarming. As you may have seen from the Montague Business Forum, a minister openly discussed imposing economic nationalism upon a region of the European Union, giving it a name, "European South-West Axis" and treating its nations like its own dominions. The talk goes on about what Montenbourg wants for the area, with no mention of what the people and nations living there actually want. Domination is not only possible by military means, and great powers aren't the only type of nation capable of exercising it. Montenbourg wants everyone out so it can influence and control this area itself, by economic means. This kind of policy goes beyond the typical trade and alliance deals that are perfectly acceptable practice. The United Kingdom has come to similar conclusions and has taken action. As always, we are willing to back our allies 100%, by military means if necessary. Our second area of concern is Emma Granger, a candidate for Premier, also from Montenbourg. In one news interview, she discusses substantially raising national contributions to the European budget. The Duxburian Union contributes more than 10.8 billion euro annually to the budget already, that's 22.4% of the entire budget! Do we have 22.4% of the regional population? No! We also pay 9x more than Montenbourg despite only having 3.4x Montenbourg's population. Clearly, we are pulling our own weight in the EU, I would suggest that Montenbourg should start pulling its own weight rather than having its hands in our cookie jar. Let's not pretend the EU is lacking in funds, either, as the Union has never run a deficit in its history. In its early years, the EU ran huge surpluses, so if anything, national contributions should be reduced. I caution all politicians and governments not to take our contribution for granted. If you openly threaten to soak us, we may very well just leave instead! Instead of 10.8 billion, you'd have nothing. I would tread carefully here.In another interview, Candidate Granger accuses large countries of corruption in Europolis and something about oppressing minorities. I challenge you to show us proof of corruption, as I am aware of no such thing. European money is spent according to the published budget. We vote in the Council according to national interests and policy. Where is this corruption you speak of? Do only smaller countries have legitimate interests? Can only smaller countries manage regional finances legitimately? I'd love to know.As for minorities, I have no idea what that is. Assuming you are referring to human skin complexions, we don't have races or ethnic groups in this country, we have people. We care about what people do, what they look like is quite irrelevant whichever way you slice it. We certainly aren't oppressing anyone based on what they look like.I condemn these designs on Europe and accusations levied without accompanying evidence. Your reckless behavior endangers the region. - Dante Maximillian
GOVERNMENT OF THE STATE TURKMENBAIJAN - OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUÉCONCERNING: DECLARATIONS OF MINISTER MCCORD OF MONTENBOURG AT THE ECENOMIC FORUM, MONTAGUEThe government of Turkmenbaijan has taken note of the statements of the foreign minister of Montenbourg, Elizabeth McCord. The claim that MCC builds hundreds of kilometers of electricity transmission lines in Turkmenbaijan is false. For the time being, no tender has been opened by competent authorities of our country to carry out this project, if the plan was already on the table. Turkmenbaijan is completely self-sufficient when it comes to electricity. We regret once again the attitude of the competent minister and this in a very short time. To really work together, as is being pursued, loyalty and respect to partners is necessary.Mr. Emir Constantini,President of the State Turkmenbaijan
18 August 2018The announcement of the proposal of a "free South-West" is one of directly challenging UK power and foreign policy, and His Majesty's Government will not tolerate the words out of Montenbourg. The United Kingdom has been open to the idea of free trade with Montenbourg and the rest of Europe, as it brings prosperity. But lumping in the United Kingdom and its territorial waters into this discussion by Elizabeth McCord has, in fact, damaged the relationship yet again between the United Kingdom and Montenbourg. His Majesty's Government will decide its own policy when it comes to its own territorial waters and international waters, and will not be told how to conduct itself. We also find it completely offensive that Montenbourg continues to try and dictate to other governments policies that involve them without proper consultation. Rather than stick its nose in the business of others, Montenbourg should perhaps find itself working cooperatively with others or find themselves isolated. The Rt. Hon. Theresa May, MPPrime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain
