Icholasen's 2015 Election - The Debate
Candidates and parties:
Hello, I'm Jannette van Cartier, here in the proud working class City of Portland, and tonight here in the NBC Studio we have 5 Party Leaders here with us today. After the devastating collapse of the Coalition Government of the Liberal Democratic Socialists run by Laverne Cox and the Socialists run by Ellen Page, Prime Minister Laverne Cox and Deputy Ellen Page both decided to call an election due to their squabbles over the de-nationalisation of the Wool Industry, and increasing pressure to legalise Dairy Nationwide - or not as the case may be. Tonight we'll be talking about how these 5 Leaders will be convincing you the public to vote for them here live in the Studio. We'll be discussing the biggest issues facing Icholasen - questions at the heart of this election. We're going to start with an allotted period of time for each of the Leaders to summarise their Party and their plan for Icholasen. Firstly we're heading for the Party of June:
"Hello and Good Evening. I am Delphine Cormier of the Party of June. We were formed only weeks ago by unifying the Capitalist Parties of the United Kingdom of Icholasen. I was only 17 when the Union of Socialist Nicolezian Republics Collapsed and left the country a decrepit shell. In the last 15 years since there has been either the Liberal Democratic Socialists or the Socialists in power. And what have they actually managed to do? Certainly not cleaning up the economic mess left by the USNR and their over-nationalisation of our industries. In fact the number of companies still partially owned by the state has risen by 4% under the Socialist parties. It is clear by looking at the economic policy of other nations. Our current policies do not work, and I will not rest until I get this country back into the greatness we had before the USNR. For I want us to thrive not just survive as a burden to the more developed economies of the world."
Thank you Delphine but I'll have to stop you there. We now go onto the Milk Is Liberty and Freedom Party. Kelis:
"Heard of the ?War on Dairy?? It refers to governmental programs intended to suppress the consumption of certain recreational Dairy. First used by USNR Chairman, Fontaine, in 1972 to describe USNRs programs of specialized law enforcement agencies, officers and techniques information campaigns to educate the public on the dangers of Dairy Use. Milk is a product included in the ?war?. Dairy is deemed socially, religiously, medically and politically unfit for recreational use and is banned. Prohibition must be weighed against the loss of personal freedom. We have a responsibility to respect individual free will and the right of self-determination. Recreational Dairy has no clear and obvious harmful effect on anyone besides the user (who chooses to accept those risks). The War on Dairy, on the other hand, places non-users? friends and loved ones in jail. The War on Dairy does have clear and obvious harmful effects on third parties."
Thank you Kelis. We now go onto the Liberal Democratic Socialist Leader: Rachel Duncan.
"Good evening, all. I lead the Democratic Socialists. Democratic socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically?to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be transformed further through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Nicoleizians can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives. Democracy and socialism go hand in hand. All over the world, wherever the idea of democracy has taken root, the vision of socialism has taken root as well. Socialists have been among the harshest critics of authoritarian Communist states such as the USNR. Just because their bureaucratic elites called them ?socialist? did not make it so; they also called their regimes ?democratic.? Democratic socialists always opposed the ruling party-states of those societies, just as we oppose the ruling classes of capitalist societies. We applaud the democratic revolution that has transformed the former Communist Icholasen."
Thank you very much Rachel Duncan. We now go onto the Dairy Is Loathsome and Foul Party Leader: Richard Schlong.
"Hello I lead the Anti-Dairy Party. We take the position that laws against the use, cultivation, and transportation of Dairy should be maintained and enforced and should not be relaxed. Now I was a Doctor and I saw first hand the effects Dairy had on people. It would have been malpractice to say that Milkshakes aren't addictive. Anybody who's experienced it, actually been addicted to it, knows how profound that addiction is The difficult thing about milkshake addiction is some people, even though they're addicted can do fine with it for many many years before they start to have difficultly, but eventually the high starts wearing off, people start drinking a lot more to try to get that high back and that's when they descend into difficulties. I've been treating dairy addiction for 20 years. It is extremely addictive for some people. I think that's where people get confused. It's not very addictive for many people. It's a small subset of people with a genetic potential for addiction. But for them it is really tough. You only need talk to them, they'll tell you how tough it is."
Thank you Richard Schlong. We now go onto Jacques Raj leader of the Socialists.
"The Socialist strives to establish a radical democracy that places people's lives under their own control - a non-racist, classless, feminist socialist society... where working people own and control the means of production and distribution through democratically-controlled public agencies, cooperatives, or other collective groups.; where full employment is realized for everyone who wants to work; where workers have the right to form unions freely, and to strike and engage in other forms of job actions; and where the production of society is used for the benefit of all humanity, not for the private profit of a few. We believe socialism and democracy are one and indivisible force for good in this country. The Socialist Party stands for a fundamental transformation of the economy, focusing on production for need not profit. So-called fair trade is meaningless as long as the world economy is dominated by a few massive corporations. Only a global transformation from capitalism to socialism will provide the conditions for international peace, justice, and economic cooperation based on the large-scale transfer of resources.
Now we go onto our Quick Fire Viewpoint Round! Where we quiz our leaders on their policies and views on the issues currently facing the United Kingdom of Icholasen. Our order will be Socialists, DILF Party, Liberal Democratic Socialist Party, MILF Party and the Party of June. We will start with the issue of the economy:
"The Socialist Party does not wish to be a part of Globalism, and will not worry about the "economy" whatever that is. We'll work to make life more equal for everyone. Even though we don't have much everyone will have an equal share, who cares about growth. Debt it is a myth created by the Bourgeoisie."
Thank you Mister Raj.
"We at the DILF Party believe that people cannot perform their jobs under the influence of Dairy. It is simply not plausible to assume people under the influence of Dairy can do their jobs successfully. And if Dairy is legalised then every single person will ingest dairy every 3 seconds. Additionally people who consume Dairy will require days off if they're ill, which decreases productivity."
Thank you Mister Schlong.
"The Liberal Democratic Socialist Party will balance the books where our previous Government has failed. We will cut the deficit every year while securing the future of the Health Service. None of our commitments will require additional borrowing. Every spending and tax commitment in will be fully funded, thus helping our economy."
Thank you Ms Duncan.
"The MILF Party isn't just a one policy party, we believe all human economic activity and social and cultural wellbeing are dependent upon the integrity of self-sustaining, self-managing natural systems. Continually increasing resource extraction, industrial throughput and waste production is entirely incompatible with ecological and economical sustainability"
Thank you Kelis.
"The Party of June believes that we should follow the system that is working so well for other nations in the region. We believe de-nationalising unnecessary industries such as the wool industry should be de-nationalised because it's common sense. Our economy is not to the standard I want. And I will change that.
Okay, now you may commence the criticisms of each other's polices in regard to Economy, and debate the subjects.
"Speaking for the Socialist Party, I find Delphine Cormier's Idea of a better society appalling. It is callous and wrong to de-nationalise. It will lose jobs not create them, and put the most vulnerable in society at risk. The wool industry is vital to keep poor people with beds on which to sleep. It is most important we keep our sacred institutes in this nation."
"The Party of June stands by its position. You are narrow minded and selfish. If you think that will aide our people you are most certainly mistaken. Your policy is to continue this downward trend as have your predecessors done in the past. But not anymore. The strengthening of our economy is of paramount importance, this will not create inequality. It will create jobs. It has worked in every other European Country. We do not have to take it as extreme as some, but it is necessary to implement our economic plan."
"The MILF Party feels that the DILF Party is a one issue party. The MILF party sympathises with the Party of June because they clearly believe in a sustainable future for Icholasen. Our democratic system believes in freedom, which cannot be achieved when most our industry is under the state's control. Furthermore the regulation of Dairy is another immoral authoritarian ideal that hinders the nation's growth."
"The Party of June believes the Socialist economic model is callous and stupid. I feel that the Liberal Democratic Socialist views, the DILF's Views and the Socialist Views are all flawed. These are the Governments that failed to rebuild after the USNR. You three have failed the people of this nation by prohibiting the growth of our economy. Because of this you all have contributed to our great nation becoming irrelevant in the European Union, and becoming a burden to others. Vote for the Party of June if you want to see this issue resolved. Icholasen can be great again."
"The Liberal Democratic Socialists believe that we need a mix between the Party of June and the Socialist Party. I personally believe we need to take the strengths and weaknesses from both and use them to our common advantage. Furthermore I believe that the only way we can make the economy work is with the mix. The Party of June has gone too far, and the Socialist party hasn't budged it's conserved position in 15 years."
