Council Political Groupings Applications

  • With the passage of the European Council Political Groups Act of 2016, Europarties are hereby unrecognized by this office. Please take a look at the legislation to get an idea of what these new groups require and how they work.

In the old Europarties' place, new Political Groups, or Caucuses, may be formed by Councillors with shared ideologies or shared political aims. To establish one of these caucuses, a Councillor must apply to this office, by filling out the form below. In the extremely unlikely event an application is not given approval, full reasons will be given. Approval will only be withheld if a prospective Caucus does not meet the requirements set out in the relevant legislation.

If any of the following become true, the Speaker is obliged to dissolve the Political Group:

    • The Political Group is reduced to fewer than three members and does not resolve this situation within fourteen days.
    • The Political Group’s Chairman, with the consent of a majority of its membership, requests its dissolution.
    • The Political Group is found guilty by the European Court of Justice of breaking the terms of the Constitution, or this [European Council Political Groups Act 2016] or any other Act.
    • The Political Group fails to elect or appoint a new Chairman within 14 days should the incumbent resign, be removed from office, leave the European Council, or be in any way unable to serve as Chairman, as specified in Article IV, Clause V of the European Council Political Groups Act 2016.
    • The Political Group fails to hold a majority vote on its system of internal decision making within 1 Gregorian calendar month of its foundation, as laid out in Article IV, Clause V.

Applications for proposed Political Groups should follow the format below:

    Name of Proposed Caucus:
Names of Councillors Founding the Caucus (Must be Three or More):
Designated Chairman (Must be one of the Founding Councillors Above):
Summary of Ideological Basis for the Caucus:
Any other important information for the Speaker to consider?:

If you have any questions, please ask!

    Speaker John Oliver (Aalen)

    Current Political Groups:

European Progressive Alliance - Cllr. Firoux of Inquista (Chairman), Cllr. Whiteford of Icholasen, Cllr. Michael of Fremet, Cllr. Leyonhjelm of Australia, Cllr. Charlaix of Sitanova, Cllr. Couillard of Miraco

  • Name of Proposed Caucus: Coalition of Centrist Nations
Names of Councillors Founding the Caucus (Must be Three or More): Timeo Falco (Wedges) , James Tournay (Poretos) , Benito Ost (Fremet)
Designated Chairman (Must be one of the Founding Councillors Above): James Tournay
Summary of Ideological Basis for the Caucus:

    - Recognising the central field of politics as the best option for Global Politics taking the benefits of Conservative and Socialist ideals to work best in the modern world

    - Bringing a coalition of smaller nations to make a larger voice within the EU to fight for common causes

    - To ensure equality and security to all parts of the EU

    - To be not only a Coalition for members, and their states, but to fight for the EU as a whole.

  • It was Antonio's first day in Europolis, and he knew his position was only temporary, and all of his decisions are voted upon by parliament, but he was excited. As he walked into the council chambers, he replayed his announcement in his mind. He walked up to the podium to speak, winked at the woman sitting in front of him, and spoke:

    "Councillors,

My government sent me here for only a short time, but they have given me one job, to address you about a repeal of the decision to join the councillors of Poretos and Wedges to form a political caucus. It is unknown the extent of Ôst's treachery, but the Fremetian Parliament will take no chances. So, it is with regret that Fremet must withdraw from being one of the founding members of the Coalition of Centrist Nations.

    Thank you."

He went and sat down in his seat, and an air of heavy silence reigned over the council chambers.

  • In that case, the application from Councillor Tournay to form a Coalition of Centrist Nations caucus has been rejected. This is because the minimum number of Councillors to found the political group has not been met.
