Statement - On the Reitzmic Prime Minister Threat of Leaving the European Union
EUROPOLIS - 10th July, 2024
My dear Europeans,
It is deeply concerning for me and the Premiership of the European Commission to hear that my proposed Constitutional amendment, that legalises divorce across the European Union, has received an hostile reply from the Prime Minister of Reitzmag, who has threatened to leave the European Union if we act to enforce the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and, therefore, the European Constitution. As your Premier Commissioner, I would like to remind all of you that I did not become Premier to play childish games. It has never been my style, and it never will.
Firstly, I would like to remind the Reitzmic Prime Minister that his threat is also inconstitutional, just like not following the European Constitution. As per Article III, Section I:
II. The European Commission is responsible for the implementation and enforcement of European Council and European Court of Justice decisions.
Secondly, I would like to address the people who are acussing the Commission, and hereby myself, of "Hispanisating" the Constitution, reminding them Article III, Section II of the European Constitution:
V. Commissioners do not represent nor are they related to any government of any member state of the European Union.
Moreover, I want to correct the Reitzmic Prime Minister when he affirms that, with my Amendment, the European legislators would be "creating precedent of using the UDoHR to force social policies upon the sovereign member-states of the EU". To begin with, there is no such thing; and if there was, the Reitzmic Prime Minister is forgetting other sensible advances recognised by the UDoHR, such as the right to marriage, the right to working conditions or the right to seek asylum; "policies" that he has no problems with.
Unlike the Prime Minister of Reitzmag, Mr. Simon Bridges, affirms; the amendment would not risk in any case the recognition of divorce in Reitzmag, as the introduced clause contains the following precept, also present in the Right to Marriage: "in accordance with the law". With this amendment, the European Union not only protects women and men basic rights, but also protects the laws and regulations across the Union that legislate on divorce, or the different names that receives across our Union. I am willing to explain this to Mr. Bridges or anyone that believes the opposite; whenever, wherever.
Finally, I would like to send a message to men and women across the Union that, like me, have had to go through a divorce or might be going through one, also those who might be thinking on it: we have been unprotected for decades, ignored and left apart from our society, even if the blame was to be put in our partners. It is time to put an end to this, and recognise a fundamental right for all of us. This Commission, and myself, Corinna Larsen, will not step back or surrender, but rather guarantee this right across the whole Union. No threats, may they come from where they come, will make me cease on my determination to protect separations or divorce in all member-states.
With love, and always in the side of the European people.
Corinna Larsen
Premier Commissioner
