One of the General Secretary's aides told the two officials that the Prime Minister of Australia has touched down and got off the flight Junichi Watanabe then organised a waitcare and were driven to Prime Minister Julie Bishops location. When the car pulled up both General Secretary Junichi Watanabe and Secretary of State Yuichi Matsuda got out of the car to great their guest. General Secretary Watanabe in his signature deadpan facetious humor greeted his counterpart "Excuse me we are looking for an Australian Prime Minister do you know where we could find one?"
Secretary of State Yuichi rolled his eyes and sighed "Please forgive him Madame Prime Minister Bishop. It is an honour to meet you." He replied while giving the signature Yosainese bow.
-
"Nice to meet you. We've heard a lot about Yosai. Tell me all about our meeting," Julie said.
-
General Secretary Watanabe smiled "Well Prime Minister Bishop we usually conduct our meetings in the Executive Blue Manor, which acts as the official residence of the General Secretary . ON our agenda today is mostly an FTA, east of visa access, that's basically our standard agreement, whatever is added on we like to leave to our potential partners. Which would be in this case the Federal Republic of Australia, whether its investment in a particular industry, academic or professional mutual recognition agreements and so on. Right now. Lets get in shall we."
All delegates got into the government car and soon found themselves at the Executive Blue Manor.
They then where escorted to the meeting room.
General Secretary Watanabe then asked "Now before we begin officially, you want anything, food or drink wise?" -
"Oh I'll do sushi and white wine. I'm in Yosai. I know your famous for that. Also takoyaki," Julie replied. "My assistant have soba."
-
Julie was a little nervous.
"I would like to discuss free trade. It is crucial to Australia," said Julie.
-
"Of course" Said General Secretary Watanabe. Kyomi got on the phone and requested the good. General Secretary Watanabe spoke again "So Prime Minister Bishop, free trade, we are of the same mind. I am under the impression that your economy, while not exactly blessed with natural resources, your nation is a high income economy. I assume that if that is the case your country replies mostly on service income and importing resources from other nations and exporting manufactured products?"
Kyomi then got off the phone "OK Well I can confirm that the food will be here in 20 or so minutes. However the wine is on its way now." Literally a minute later the sake rice wine arrived with a staffer handing it to the Secretary of Commerce & Industry. The bottle was wheeled in with 4 sake cups. The sake was Dassai Shochu, the famous brand was known across the nation and while not the strongest rice wine, it was the smoothest in terms of taste. The bottle said 40% alcohol.
The General Secretary raised his eyebrow. "This is 40% Kyomi, isn't that a little too much? I mean we are in the middle of a state meeting"
"It will be fine sir. /we just need to portion it" She replied
"Ok then." He replied in a light but apprehensive tone.
The General Secretary then poured the sake into the cups, wanting to be careful about the amount in each cup.
"So Madam Prime Minister I would just like to start with a proposal of an ease of visa access program and free trade to start, however free trade can mean many things. To us it basically the removal of tariff and non tariff barriers of goods. However to what degree I like to leave up to the other party in question the we go from there. What do say?" He said with a gentle smile.
-
"Yes; oh that would be great," the Prime Minister said. She kept drinking and drinking. The drink didn't hit her immediately but eventually it did. At first she felt a little lightheaded. Then a hot face.
'Shit,' Julie thought. She was drunk. She sat there and her aide came by.
"Prime Minister, are you okay?" the aide asked. Julie drunkenly nodded. "Nope."
"Obviously, the Prime Minister is incapable of continuing. I will take over. My name is Ian O'Donaghue," the aide announced.
-
Both Secretary Ishijo and General Secretary Watanabe raised their eyebrows and looked at each other than looked back at the aid. Secretary Ishijo replied "She's going to be ok right?" General Secretary Watanabe then replied "It was one shot glass, wow....Anyway Mr O'Donaghue I guess your time is now. How does that proposal sound to you?"
-
"Those proposals sound great. We also want to buy two shinkansen and request engineering help," Mr. O'Donoghue said. "Also, we would like visa free travel and education access."
-
General Secretary replied "So student visas and bullet trains? That's fine we can arrange that. I'm guessing you want two as a means of sampling for engineering and design purposes. If you plan for the Shinkansen trains to be used for some national railway network then design collaboration will be needed. I'm guessing you and the Prime Minister is what you wanted?"
-
"Yes, that is right," Ian said. "On behalf of the prime minister, I thouroghly apologize."
