Madrid, España
14th February 2022It was a cloudy day in the usually sunny Madrid, the capital city of Spain. Even if it did not rain much recently around the southern European country, a low-pressure mass of air decided to enter the country and let the water fall from the sky. Not much, not the one many needed, but at least, it was something out of the near-to-be-severe drought that was hitting Spain. That day, "La Ciudad de la Libertad" (Freedom City), as people from all around Spain started to call it after Isabel Díaz Ayuso's massive victory in the regional election on May last year; woke up as always, just adding the umbrellas to the beautiful streets filled with tourists and natives.
Nonetheless, President Jesús Aguilar did not have such a good night as others had. While his party had won the silly election in Castilla y León and had no excuse to purge the acting and now President-elect of the region, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, for disobeying the party's orders concerning the elections and joining Casado's internal faction indirectly, which puts his leadership in risk, he had asserted a huge and exact hit to his internal rival, by proving that this mistake was not his fault, but rather Casado's. That will leave him out for some months, or years; Aguilar thought, discarding a problem he would not have to deal with, at least, for some time.
The Spanish President agenda included a very important summit today, for which he would travel abroad. Poland-Lithuania was back into the European Union, and his country had the huge honour of being the first guest for a summit. As always, Jesús exited Moncloa on a car and travelled to the Torrejón de Ardoz airbase, where his shiny new Presidential plane was waiting for him. He shook hands with the soldiers around the plane, and thanked them for their hard job on the plane's maintenance. The plane engines were turned on, and it taxied to the Runway, where it started it acceleration until it took off, heading to Poland-Lithuania.
Presidential Plane
Somewhere over Central EuropeDuring his trip, the Spanish President had a videocall to attend from his Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Minister, Alfonso Dastis. Both discussed some of the many interesting facts that Poland-Lithuania had, with Dastis making emphasis on how the country worked: "Jesús, the country you are visiting today has three different regions, each of them with a different capital: Poland has its capital based in Warsaw, Lithuania, in Vilnius; and Ruthenia's capital city is Kyev. But, the main city of the country is the one you will be visiting today, Warsaw". Aguilar made some notes out of the many information Dastis gave him, and thanked his Minister for the information before ending the videocall.
Then, Jesús Aguilar checked out the headlines of the Spanish newspapers, all of them focused on the rise VOX had experienced in the Castilla y León election and analyzing the results. The Spanish President loved to read the national press, he needed to if he wanted to be informed about what was going on around his country. When he finished, he also read some Polish-Lithuanian news that could squeeze into the summit he was just about to start. Half an hour later, a flight assistant informed him about their imminent arrival, and he got ready. First came the approach, then the plane was on final and finally, it touched down.
The plane headed to its designated parking space, where it stopped. The door opened, and Aguilar came off the plane. His adventure had just started, and now it was a matter of time to get into the designated meeting place...
