        DAY 1: AN IMPORANT MATTER

        alt text
        Early Morning, September 18
        Caspian Alpha Headquarters, Brewnest

The Caspian Alpha had begun their mission to patrol and secure the Caspian Sea from piracy and terrorism. Their first task, patrol the area and guide the Caspian Alpha Fleet to their deployment areas. That day, they also received their new director, Adm. Boo Suk-jong (부석종) of the Royal Navy. A meeting between the task force's command was held to discuss some of the initial plans, and to communicate with the Duchian Armed Forces to properly synchronize plans and prevent misunderstanding. Assembled at the table with Adm. Boo are Adm. Radakin of the Royal Navy, Gen. Smith of the Army, Air Chief Marshal Wigston of the Air Force, Chief Coastguard Mizen of the Coastguard, Air Marshal Park In-ho (박인호) of the Caspian Alpha Wing, renowned Field Marshall (former Gen.) Peter Renwalt, and Amb. Victoria Mendell of the United Duchies.

Adm. Boo: "I'd like to thank everyone here for coming to this very important meeting to discuss concrete initial plans on how our country will deal with the hostile groups and individuals posing threats to our trade routes. His Majesty's Government has entrusted to me the task of overseeing the operations of the new Caspian Alpha, and I pledge to not let His Majesty and his government down with the help of Air Marshal In-ho who will lead the Air Wing of this new special task force. So far, we have just deployed 2 ships from the Royal Navy and 3 ships from the Coastguard to conduct preliminary patrols to the central Caspian while HMC Empire, HMC Britannia, and HMC England are on their way home for minor repairs. We have also sent 2 waves of aerial patrol this morning and yesterday composed of 2 Crimson jets, some helicopters, and Patrol Aircraft. That is all for now, I'll have the floor to Air Marshal Park."

Air Marshal Park: "Thank you Admiral. Now, I'm here to show the results of some of the patrols conducted by the Caspian Alpha Wing yesterday and this morning. As you can see, we have identified the common types of watercraft used by these pirates and we have known that these are more durable than the ones we've seen 3 years ago. However, we have still not identified what type of weapons these pirates hold and whether they possess any aircraft that may have been modified with weapons. Currently, we are identifying the common deployment areas of these pirates and whether they are connected to one group or operate independently from other pirates that have been spotted. That is all for now, I will now give back the floor to Adm. Boo."

Adm. Boo: "Thank you Air Marshal Park. Now, I believe we shall discuss our initial plans for the operations and our long term goals for this task force. The floor is now open for any speaker."

Gen. Smith: "I'd like to propose that we only contain these pirates to a certain location rather than wage war against them and kill them all"

Field Marshall Renwalt: "I beg to differ Gen. Smith, it would be a waste of time if we just limit their movements. We should take them off, once and for all. If we destroy them, they can't come back just like what they're doing now after three years."

Air Chief Marshal Wigston: "Gen. Renwalt, do you think that obliterating these pirates would be received positively by other countries? Have you known what happened last time, despite our efforts not to create as many casualties possible? We can't simply walk in and massacre these pirates, it would be very unwise and risky for our country's reputation to the international community. So what if we just attack if they attack, just as we have been instructed by the Code of Conduct of the Armed Forces. We should partner with countries like the UD in ensuring that our trade routes are not disturbed."

Adm. Radakin: "ACM Wigston is right, we shouldn't risk our country's international reputation in exchange of long term safety in the Caspian. In addition to the no-first strike policy, we should make sure that we respond proportionally to the threats. Avoid the use of missiles unless they use powerful weapons such as MANPADS against us."

Adm. Boo: "Thank you everyone for your inputs, and I think everyone will agree that we should preserve our country's still-positive reputation to the international community. Now, before we draft more details on initial plans, I'd give the floor to Chief Coastguard Mizen to give us some idea what the pirates were like when the coastguard encountered them yesterday for the first time."

Chief CG Mizen: "Thank you Adm. Boo. Now, to start off, I was in constant communication with the three Coastguard cutters sent to the area yesterday. They described to me that they were more openly hostile than what some of them have seen 3 years ago. Upon seeing the pirates, they were met with gunfire. The personnel of the ships deployed were sent with personal weapons for self-defense, and so they have killed all the pirates that they encountered. They did not approach the vessels anymore, but they assume that the weapons used by the pirates were Assault Rifles from Angleter, Vektor SS-77 Machine gun, and some other munition which they believe were smuggled or captured. That is all for now, thank you"

Adm. Boo: "Thank you Chief CG Mizen. Now, we have an idea of the possible strength of these pirates. I think we should start drawing up plans, my suggestion is that we send all of the Caspian Alpha Fleet to conduct regular patrols for 3 months where they will be replaced by new crew and replenished with new resources from other aircraft and ships from the Royal Navy, RAF, and Coastguard that are not in the Caspian Alpha."

The high command agreed on the plans and immediately sent additional ships to the Central Caspian.

        To be continued...

DAY 1: SCRAMBLE TO THE CASPIAN

          Morning, September 18

The initial plan had been drafted, however it was necessary to coordinate the plans with that of the Duchian Armed Forces to avoid misunderstandings. The Reitzmic Government had more trust in the Duchians than any other member of the Telum Treaty. And so a virtual communique was established between the United Duchies and the Kingdom of Reitzmag to discuss additional plans such as deployment areas for both countries to avoid patrols being too concentrated on one area.

Adm. Boo: "Greetings Duchian Command, I am Adm. Boo of the Caspian Alpha Fleet. I am here with the members of the Caspian Alpha High Command. We would like to discuss our conduct of joint patrols in the Caspian Sea to combat piracy."

Caspian Alpha Assembly Area, HMNB Buckingham

As assigned, 5 ships from the Caspian Alpha will be sent for preliminary patrols. HMC Oliver Browning, HMC Wesley Curtis, HMC Philip Bedford, HMS Fulbrone, and HMS Illustrious have been prepared since yesterday on their voyage to the Central Caspian. One by one, they are assisted by tugboats away from the port to an assembly area. Upon arrival to the assembly area, the 5 ships form as an arrow with HMS Illustrious leading.

          Afternoon, September 18
          Central Caspian

HMC Empire, HMC Britannia, and HMC England are on their way home for repairs after confirming the situation yesterday. On their way, they notice a small orange life boat is approaching them. The small boat seemed familiar and looked like the one used by the pirates they encountered. It was enclosed, and so it was necessary to use a telescope to see what's inside. HMC Empire takes a closer look at the boat, and they are indeed pirates.

          On-board alert System: GENERAL QUARTERS!

The crew immediately rush to prepare for possible attack from the pirates. All three ships approach the small raft and wait for any hostile response. But there seems like no guns were being fired.

          Suddenly...
          alt text

An RPG was fired from the back of the small craft where a rocket gunner was hiding. It was aimed at HMC Britannia, and it had scored a hit at the helicopter landing deck. It made a fire, injuring 10 crew and killing 6 sailors on-board. A sailor from HMC England went behind the ship with a sniper rifle and shot the rocket gunner. The two other men inside the life raft quickly escaped. The small fleet rushed to get home as soon as possible, while the fire was put out and all those injured were taken care of. Those who were killed were wrapped in body bags temporarily so they would be given military honors upon arriving home.
