SDV: Good evening, comrades! Today we will be discussing the Nicoleizian elections happening this April. We'll be electing ministers for the Politburo for the sector we work in, our Assembly of Workers Representatives and our Republic Assemblies Representatives who will in turn elect our upper house, the Assembly of Nationalities. These are all different bodies with different functions, and we'll be talking to someone running for each of these who will tell us how they're elected, for what purpose, and what they want to see under our new government. Firstly, let's talk to Marcus Hansen, who is running for a Ministership in the Politburo.
Marcus Hansen: I'm running to be the Minister of Agriculture in the Politburo. My plan is to ease into collectivisation and allow agricultural workers more frequent votes on key issues, such as regulations in their field. Despite the fact workers cooperatives of a similar size to our sector get more representatives in the Assembly of Workers, I will have a massive say as part of the executive in the direction of agriculture in this country.
SDV: Now, let's move onto Françoise Medellin, a candidate for the Assembly of Workers for a workers cooperative for a clothes retailer.
Françoise Medellin: Yes, I'm running to represent my cooperative. We're very small so I would be the only Member elected from my coop. I want to make sure that the clothes industry is not treated as an essential industry, as with the elimination of rent, people will be able to make their own choices about their clothes. I, for one, will be working with the other people in the fashion industry to keep us independent.
SDV: Last but not least is Harry Quentin, running for the Romain Republic Assembly.
Harry Quentin: I'm running for the RRA, this assembly deals with local issues such as the bins, the schools, and health. I'm going to advocate for more funding for all of these to promote a healthier environment in my commune. Our commune is among the poorest in the nation and I hope to get us help on the Republic level. We as Republic Assembly members, get a vote on Romain's Assembly of Nationalities members, meaning that I get a chance to make sure my commune and Republic are represented on the national level.
SDV: Thank you all, I'm looking forward to election day!

NBC News
Generic Newsreader: Élizabeth Martichoux has been elected as Chairwoman of the Nicoleizian Broadcasting Cooperative, or the NBC. The programme she presented to her colleagues before her election was to expand NBC's current schedule of just current affairs news and some limited television, to also include some original television programmes, such as documentaries and dramas. She argued the channel should include more news about other countries in Europe, taking a leaf out of the book of CBC, but going about it in a different way by not changing branding.
As per the new employment laws, she has said that in her first budget that will be presented to the workers of NBC, will be for the lowest tier employees of the company will make 20,000 Nicoleizian shillings a year, and her and the talent will earn 80k a year. This keeps the company within the 4x maximum distance between the upper and lower bands imposed by the new government. She did express fears that this would discourage the talent, such as Stephanie DeVey who, it has been reported, has had an offer for an Inquistan Channel. But Martichoux, speaking to the NBC, has said that 'me and Stephanie have a great relationship and I hope she will stay in the country. 80k smackeroonies is still a significant sum."

Stephanie DeVey: Chairman Jirluchuz today has announced his plans to reintegrate Icholasen into the political structure of the European Union, submitting to Edward Firoux's Elected and Accountable Council Act in holding an election for Icholasen's EU Councillor. The Acting Politburo has also decided that it will field candidates for the upcoming Commission elections. This a U-Turn from the previous position of the Politburo that Icholasen would not be holding Commission elections due to the very very harsh treatment of Becky Short-Hailey by Speaker Edward Firoux.
Speaking in Cesae Vauvra today, the Chairman outlined his foreign policy goals towards Europe. "It is clear that it is easier to work with Europe on areas we can, rather than shun them entirely. Comrades, socialism is not limited to one country. We must reach out to others to spread our revolution, we should not hide the bounty of Socialism our island, no, we should spread it as far as we can. It is clear we have allies in the governments of Czech Slavia and Inquista, and, to an extent, in Gallorum as well. Our Socialist presence in the Council and in Europe will bring the light of Socialism to new nations."

Madam Kikaya's News Hour
Madame Kikaya: Comrades, a great Victory has been won! The Reitzmag Aggressor kidnapped our Foreign Minister, Comrade Bernie Sanders and held him for ransom. The Reitzmag Aggressor demanded that the Glorious UNSR give them planes that they want to bomb our ally, Inquista. It is truly shocking to what lengths The Reitzmag Aggressor will go to to attack an innocent and very good man, Craticus, who leads a beautiful and great land. Glorious Chairman Jirluchuz skillfully mobilised the People's Airforce to head to Reitzmag to force them to give up Comrade Sanders. The Reitzmag Aggressor resisted and refused to give up Comrade Sanders, but Chairman Jirluchuz acted with poise and grace. Our Chairman was firm and square with The Reitzmag Aggressor, but also calm and very fair. Chairman Jirluchuz then secured the release of Bernie Sanders and he is currently on his way back to Icholasen. The Reitzmag Hostage Crisis could have been a lot worse, The Reitzmag Aggressor could have refused to let Comrade Sanders come back to the Motherland and a deadly war could have erupted. But, with Chairman Jirluchuz's stable leadership, he ensured that there was to be no bloodshed. The Reitzmag Aggressor stands defeated, and sets a precedent that monarchies are no match for the People's Airforce, the Red Army, and most importantly, the Nicoleizian people.

The Ministry of Truth's Daily Emission
Owen Jones: Comrades! Victory is ours. Comrade Sanders is now back in Icholasen and the Ministry of Truth would like to take a few moments to congratulate him and Chairman Jirluchuz's bravery today. Of course today we'd like to take a moment to nominate today's enemy of the people and today it is Foreign Minister Coventry of Reitzmag. He ordered the kidnap of a member of the Politburo. That is not on, Comrades. This situation reminds me of the time a Whitefordite stole my copy of the Guardian. All property may be theft, Comrades, but that fucking Guardian was mine. Anyway, yes, we have secured a great victory today, Comrades. The people of Icholasen will revel in the glory and the power of their Unity in the face of a parasitic capitalist and monarchist class.

SDV: Laulw Foriel is so far the only candidate to put themself forward for the election of Icholasen's new European Councillor, and if no one does the election will be brought forward to Wednesday as there will be no sense in having a long period of campaigning. The government is keen to move quickly in the nomination of a new EU Councillor for the UNSR so it can have a voice in the centre of European power. Foriel is a Communist Party figure known for her support of wage equality before the revolution and pushed for this as an assembly member in Portland. Foriel's goals are to found a new Eurogroup and increase the influence of the Institute of the European Left in European politics.
