Eilidh Whiteford: Nicoleizians, fellow citizens and followers of democracy. Our nation mourns a tragic loss. But, I will not cease in my efforts to restore the rightful, democratic government of Icholasen. I understand that my life is in danger, but I will sacrifice everything to restore Icholasen to its righteous democratic system.
I will work with other European governments to establish recognition of the government myself and 8 Nonet members have set up here in Ireland. This government sees itself as the legitimate government of Icholasen and as such the government that should be dealt with on the European level and any other level.
It might take years, decades, maybe even a century to restore Icholasen, but that time will come and all alive to see it will rejoice in a democratic new dawn for Icholasen and Europe. From this radio, internet and TV station I and others will update you on the status of the liberation of Icholasen from its shackles of communism.
Thank you for listening, your Korojaunu, Eilidh Whiteford.

Samantha Terrace, Acting Korojaunu in exile, Attends ENAA Meeting
Samantha Terrace, Free Icholasen's acting Korojaunu whilst Eilidh Whiteford serves her turn as Premier Commissioner, has spoken with the other 5 members of the ENAA on the Kingdom of Spain getting nuclear weapons. It is expected that Ms. Terrace will agree to this request. Free Icholasen's ENAA membership is a hangover from when it occupied territory, now, being a state with no territory at all, and also no nukes.
Terrace has been developing Free Icholasen's foreign policy and has been extremely lucky after Inquista, once the UNSR's principal 'mainstream' European Union ally has elected an Archbishop that is 100% supportive of Free Icholasen. This win helped her legitimacy as Korojaunu of Free Icholasen, as if the largest economy in the European Union supports her, whatever ideological differences fade away.
Another event which will bolster her is the European Heads of Government Meeting in Europolis, scheduled for the 6th of July. This meeting will give Terrace an opportunity to help ensure that the rest of Europe continues to recognise Free Icholasen, as opposed to the UNSR. This recognition is key for Free Icholasen's 'soft power' which enables them to vote in the ENAA, the European Council, and various other European institutions. Terrace needs to keep this soft power or risk the dream of reconquering Icholasen being lost forever.
Terrace is also expected to have a 1 on 1 meeting with Archbishop Mikaela Kligenburg and others there to further bolster support for Free Icholasen's global standing. Terrace has said that she will not be talking to Slavomíra Černá, the Czech Slavia representative at the conference, or other communists who do not recognise Free Icholasen as the real Icholasen.

General Prudence Crumplebottom: the resistance is not yet over, despite losses
The Provisional Icholasen Royalist Army has had several bad defeats recently, but there is no reason to lose hope, says leader Prudence Crumplebottom. 'We have had some terrible losses. We have lost almost all the territory we held and are now totally in hiding, we have limited supplies and - worst of all - General Mark Francois has been taken into custody by the secret police. But, we have also had some great gains. We have blown up some bridges that have caused disruption to the transportation of troops and materiel across the UNSR and we have succeeded in taking some political prisoners.'
Crumplebottom, however, laments the lack of support from the European Community. 'We are not a large fighting force, we are very small and are, truth be told, close to defeat. We understand it is difficult to get supplies to us, but we really need them. I commend Korojaunu Terrace; despite differences we have had in the past, she has managed to get us some of the supplies we need. I do, however, warn the nations of the world to not underestimate the power of the UNSR, they have incredibly ruthless officers and military personnel.'
Despite being called 'terrorists' by the UNSR authorities, it is clear that General Prudence Crumplebottom and the Provisional IRA (Icholasen Royalist Army), are a lovers of freedom and democracy. General Prudence called the UNSR elections a 'sham' and said that they did not offer a real choice to the people.

Stephanie DeVey to host Commission Debate in Europolis
Stephanie DeVey is set to host the EU Commission Debate which will take place before the elections this fall. There will be an election for the Premiership of the European Union (which due to term limits, Whiteford is vacating) and for the Internal Affairs Commissioner. This is the first European Election with the new voting rules put forward by Speaker Firoux which were voted through the Council unanimously. This amendment means that new (and returning) nations cannot vote in elections whose nomination period started before they joined (or rejoined). This will create a challenge for all candidates as there is a smaller voter base which has much more entrenched positions. Premier Whiteford, for example, won with the help of newer nations like Sunkist.
Stephanie's debate will start off with opening statements, and then there will be 3 sections with different levels of depth.
The first will be broad. Before the debate, candidates will be given a questionnaire to fill out on all the big issues. These will then will be compared graphically. This section will provide an opportunity for voters to see the similarities and differences between the different candidates. The candidates will then have an opportunity to comment on theirs and others' positions, and why they think their positions are the right ones.
The second part will have a smaller focus, zooming in on each candidate's policy platform. DeVey will ask a different question for each candidate, focusing on their specific policies, with questions about the feasibility of them. This aims to provide accountability, with statements on the campaign trail followed up on and challenged.
And the final part is just a general round, with general questions that are the same for all candidates -- much like the debate in the last election. The candidates will then be given an opportunity to conclude with their final statements.
In all these rounds, the audience will be given a chance to ask questions. In addition, throughout the debate, a team of fact checkers will work on making sure that the candidates are telling the truth. DeVey has said she is 'delighted' be able to host this debate with a shaken up format.

General Prudence Crumplebottom is given honorary Nonet seat by Whiteford and Sandra Cartier (Nonet Opposition Leader), giving her power to vote in the EU's Commission elections
General Prudence Crumplebottom has been assigned as Nonetor for 'Nuwnociluosoaulaunk, Copala City, and New Saint Regina' as she returns from the mountains of Kicrlaunk after her grueling campaign. Whiteford has committed to an election however.
In a statement, Crumplebottom updated the Free Nicoleizians on the state of the rebellion. 'It's not good, folks. But, I am glad to be able to join the resistance here in the halls of the government of Free Icholasen. Diplomatic resistance is just as important as the physical resistance I oversaw in the mountains.' She pauses 'Our remaining loyalist armed forces are still holding some mountain villages, but it is hopeless. As winter comes and the snow sets in, they will need to hide. I think that Whiteford and Cartier's bipartisan choice to put me on the Nonet is appropriate.'
'I also hope to convince my NAP colleagues to vote Trympov instead of Cocx. I have sworn off of Cocx. Being against EU hegemony does not a rightist make! You have to have right wing social values to be right in my book. I want my NAP colleagues to stop supporting centrists just because they don't like the EU. What a success story he is. Getting a (small) loan and then making a business empire. His story will be possible in the UNSR once we get those Communists out.'

1st Preference: Jean-Claude Juncker
This is an interesting result, with the NAP moving in great numbers for Cocx. The NAP just loves Cocx. In the IA race, though, the NAP did not feel they had a candidate that represented them. Even Prudence Crumplebottom did not vote for a candidate, and cited a personal dislike for John Oliver for his handling of Eurovoice saying; 'the key tenet of European Civilisation is Eurovoice and Christianity. John Oliver respects neither and his Godless antics have shown this.'
Samantha Terrace congratulated Merkel and Juncker for receiving the votes of the Party of June Dominated Nonet. Terrace saying 'well done to Merkel and Juncker. I am confident you will win the backing of Europe in this election.' Whiteford gave a special shoutout to Merkel, 'Merkel you're gonna win, baby.'
