The second phase of the Malboryan 2020 elections has been concluded after the election results getting announced on all Malboryan televisions.
After 2 weeks of rallies and meet-ups from both sides, it has finally come to an end.
Vincent Archambault wins the race over Narcisse Blanco by getting 51,1% of the votes. Out of 17 million people who were eligible to vote, around 11 million of them voted, making the voting turnout 64%.
Archambault was sworn-in to the office 3 hours ago, at the time when we wrote this article. He promised "an equal life and opportunities for all Malboryans" and "more relations with outside countries". He claimed that the years under his charge will be "the best years The Republic has ever seen", though some Malboryans are sceptical.
"COUNCILLOR ELECTIONS WILL HAPPEN"
After Elected and Accountable Council Act passing on the EU council, The position of Ms Ectsi Ioneli was in a limbo for quite a while. Reports say that Archambault demanded Ms Ioneli to resign in the next 24 hours, though this has been unconfirmed as of now. However, the AFM spokesperson has told MBOTV that the councillor elections will happen as soon as possible.

You Don't Know Who Wrote This Article, Thanks to Mr Antelmo
This act changed everything in Malboryan Journalism.
(Libertate)
Back in the 1980s, Malborya, which was slowly transforming from an Inquistan puppet state to a democracy, had a big problem. The honest, hard-working journalists all around the country were constantly being threatened, with torture, disappearance, or death. These threats mostly came from Centreo's Mafia, which, even though Centreo was dead, they were still around. Other offenders were the Inquistan and Red Croatian extremists, making sure nobody spilt anything about they didn't want.
Now, you might be asking, wouldn't it just... be easier to catch these bad guys? Doesn't Malborya have policemen all around? And the answer is, yes, we did have policemen all around the country. But it gets hard when you realize these mafias have a connection with almost every country, and they had no problem travelling in and out. Malborya simply did not have the resources to eradicate this mess at that time.
So, what did the government do, to get around this? In November of 1986, then Prime Minister of Malborya, Mr Antelmo, approved The Anonymity Grants For Journalists Act. This act was simply, groundbreaking. It gave the journalists rights to be anonymous as they wished if they thought they would be in trouble if they released it with their full name. It was so influential, even today, Mr Antelmo is known for this law.
This law did wonders- many nameless heroes, writing the truth for our fellow Malboryans, have survived so many threats, on the Malboryan progress to democracy. It shielded our people from the worst of the worst.
Every 17th of November, Malboryans come together to celebrate our hidden heroes, our journalists, and the ones who got killed along the journey to the right information. All the candles for them... May they rest well.

Ms. Ectsi Ioneli silently returns to Malborya
The Europolis adventure of Ioneli is now over.
(Gazetta Institut Malborya)
Ectsi Ioneli, the EU Councillor of The Malboryan Republic for the past 4 years up until now, has returned from Europolis this afternoon. According to sources from Europolis, she preferred not to use the airport due to her being scared of the protesters waiting on Malbory International.
The airport security had a lot of trouble keeping protestors out of the airport, which resulted in the Malboryan police stepping in. It is estimated that around 350 people participated in the protests, 6 of which got arrested.
On her social media, she said the following: "It was a great honour to represent Malborya at the EU Council. I wish the best of luck to whoever replaces me on that spot. I'm sure they'll do a better job than I can ever do."
Previously, Ms Ioneli was heavily criticised by most Malboryans, due to opposing Electable and Accountable Council Act. Many predict that she could've ran for the election again, with heavy support, if she didn't oppose the act.

Malboryan Councillor candidates finally announced
3 people will fight for the spot on May 2020 Malboryan councillor election
(Rosa, Gello o Blu)
After an extensive amount of auditions and interviews, the new council member candidates are finally declared by the Parlamenta. Kent Evergreen, Claudia Leon and Vald Linda are going to be the potentials which will fill the empty spot Ectsi Ioneli has left this year.
But, who exactly are these people? Ladies and gents, let us introduce you the candidates.
CANDIDATE 1 - Kent Evergreen

Birthdate: 16th of July, 1981 (38 years old)
Gender: Female
Location: Malbory, Malborya
Summary: Claudia Leon became documented when she ran for the parliament seat within the 2020 Malboryan elections. Her rightist opinions created her gain popularity among the Catholics and extreme MFP voters, although several also find her unlikable, finding her "too extreme". although being rightist, she appears to support the European Union and has talked about the advantages Malborya has when it joined the union in 2010.CANDIDATE 3 - Vald Linda
Birthdate: 4th of January, 1990 (30 years old)

She was heavily supportive of Malborya joining EuroVoice and has created the movement, Malbvizio, where the music competition with the same name gets its name from.On tonight's debate on MBOTV, the three will debate and answer the questions of Emilie-Marie Louise. What will they say? We can't wait to know.

Opinion: Is Evergreen the best option for Malborya?
Maybe, but it's less simple than you think.
(Libertate)
Ever since the candidates were announced by the Parlamenta, all three candidates have faced criticism from various sides. Though there were many people who were satisfied with the candidates, it seems like a lot of people thought none of the candidates was great enough to represent Malborya at Europolis. The biggest proof of this is the voting turnout. Only 47,9% of Malboryans eligible to vote at 2020 EU councillor elections have actually voted in the election.
The winner of the elections, Kent Evergreen, is not exactly a figure beloved by all Malboryans. Aside from usual homophobia and transphobia he experiences, he doesn't have many fans. So, how did he win the election? Did he cheat? Well, if he attempted, we would be hearing it constantly for the next 3 days, as well as 1970s right-wing hysteria about his "mental illness" or whatever. It's harsh, but that's what would happen in Malborya.
In order to understand the victory of Evergreen, we need to look at the other two candidates: Claudia Leon and Vald Linda. Claudia Leon is your usual MFP-type centre-right woman. On a country where a centre-left prime minister gets an approval rate of around 53%, Leon had no chance. Her views were considered inconsistent to many, and many questioned if she was a populist, which is something that is frowned upon in Malborya.
Vald Linda is, simply put, alienating. She just doesn't feel Malboryan. And no, this is not a baseless assumption on how she is an Inquistan spy, and it surely is not a xenophobic attack towards Victorians. What it is, is that Linda is not relatable to Malboryans. She doesn't seem friendly, happy or appealing to the voters. And her policies aren't the best, either. She was heavily questioned about her stance on EU policing the member states, saying she'd prefer a system where EU legislated on everything, as well as her disapproval on legalisation of cannabis.
It's possible that Evergreen simply got elected because him being "the lesser evil" out of three candidates. It's possible that he was simply the best one for many Malboryans. But, it is too hard to tell just yet. He has four years to show himself. That is a lot of time for someone to shine! Only time will tell.
I'd like to end this article on a positive note and congratulate Evergreen on winning the councillor elections.

Missing teenager's body found on the national park in Klocke-Yoyl, local folk suspicious
Onai Perdeza wasn't the first person to be found dead around that area.
(LIBERTATE)
Three weeks ago, the Perdeza family reported to the local police that their son Onai, 14, was missing. The police have done an extensive search throughout the town of Vardegart to find the boy. However, after two weeks, no trace of Onai could be found. Until now.
A farmer, whose identity wasn't shared to the public, found the body somewhere near his farm while driving to Vardegart. The farmer called the ambulance immediately. Onai was pronounced dead on the scene.
Onai wasn't the first person to die this way. A month ago, a 59-year-old woman was found dead near a cave, half a kilometre away from where Onai Perdeza died. Three months before that, a young man in his 20s was found dead near a well, in-between the two incidents. In three years, 9 people were found dead or heavily injured in Bonidelva National Park.
An autopsy done on three bodies revealed that the deaths were suspiciously similar- they were done in either poisoning or hypothermia. This raised extreme suspicion around Klocke-Yoyl, and with the order of the governor, the Bonidelva was closed until further notice.
"We will investigate these incidents further", local police sheriff claimed after the death of Onai. "This young man's death wasn't the first incident around the area. Therefore, the area is closed down to the public until further notice, in order for our people's safety."

Underground settlements found in Bonidelva National Park after a detailed investigation
I've never seen something like this before, says the local police sheriff
(Libertate)
A couple of days ago, the governor of Klocke-Yoyl issued a direct order to close down Bonidelva National Park until further notice after three people suspiciously died in three months. The incidents gained wide publicity in the nation after the death of Onai Perdeza, a 14-year-old boy who was found dead inside the national park.
According to the reports from the authorities, an underground settlement was found 10 meters west of Bonidelva, suspected to be home of at least 75 people.
This caused widespread panic across Klocke-Yoyl, as well as a district-wide lockdown in Vardegart until further notice."I've never seen something like this before", says the local police sheriff. "Our first thoughts that it was the wild animals who committed the attacks. None of us expected something this unusual."
The underground settlement was successfully raided in a dawn operation, where 80 people living under were detained, 48 of which are already released. The police will continue detention for the remaining suspects for another 90 days as the investigations continue.

Opinion: The conflict in Eastern Haane may destroy the safe image of Malborya
The conflict paints an unstable picture for the region.
(Mainecras)
The lands of Eastern Haane are truly the worst place to live in these days. The country is in a constant state of chaos with various factions controlling portions of the country. Anarchy has taken the place of the government as mobs are burning down the Haanean lands. And all this negatively affects the Malboryan tourism industry. Three days ago, The Malboryan Government called the government of Josephine Areai "illegitimate and terror-fed" and put the government on its terrorist watch-list. This lead to tensions rising inside Malborya, with many Malboryans fearing an unexpected terrorist attack from Areai, and although this is far from likely, this doesn't relax the Malboryans, nor tourists coming from all over European Union.
Under the administration of Vincent Archambault, Malborya is more militarized than ever before. It's defence spending percentage jumped from 3,5% to almost 10%. In just four months, the Arms Manufacturing industry increased by 1600%. While former Prime Minister Luca Eusebiu decided to play a rather passive role in the world scene, it seems like Archambault wants to turn tables around. He takes all the steps to make Malborya a strong influencer in the region. And Malborya's unexpected aggressive stance on Haanean Civil War is certainly a part of that. However, this comes with a price. Malborya, a country that seemingly kept its sanity and was deemed "safe", between communist-revolted Czech Slavia, dense and conflicted Inquista and authoritarian Red Croatia, may not have this image anymore. Archambault seems to be very eager to unleash Malboryan troops into the territory of Eastern Haane and not everyone agrees with him. Many citizens would rather stay neutral to the conflict. After all, Eastern Haane doesn't even border Malborya, contrary to Archambault's tweet.
The stubborn attitude of Vincent Archambault may result in conflicts, protests and riots all around Malborya. He is walking on thin ice. His rather reckless actions will probably make the near future the most intense years of Malboryan politics, and maybe history.

Protests spark all across Malborya from all sides regarding the Haanean Civil War
The conflict creates quite a lot of polarization.
(Mainecras)
As Archambault prepares more and more for a Malboryan invasion (or liberation, depending on which side you stand on) of Eastern Haane, the streets get filled with more and more people. After Archambault's tweet and the governmental statement from Malbory City, everyone took it to the streets to show their support or their despisement. In just 12 hours, protests and rallies about Eastern Haane were seen in all eleven regions.
Malbory is now more militarized than ever before, challenging the days of Drava Centreo. It is also where the most intense clashes are. The governor, Luka Merdena, issued a lockdown which meant all roads to Malbory were closed. No one could leave or come in. Thousands, with some news sources claiming as much as half a million, were out in the streets to either show solidarity with Archambault or boycott him, with some calling for a total demilitarization. The hashtags #DemilitarizeMalborya and #HandsOffHaane were trending, as well as #AllHandsOnHaane, which is the opposite of #HandsOffHaane. The police do not hesitate to use tear gas, with some even reporting sounds of bullets. According to the citizens of Montaigne, both sides are vulnerable to equal violence, citing the police's only purpose is to shoo off the protesters.
Vasilica Da Anna is another hotspot for the protests, as well as other cities in the region of Rosetta. In Aruvail, considered the most conservative city of Rosetta, a lynch campaign has been reported against people supporting demilitarization. Similar reports have also been filed in Lachte and Klocke-Yoyl. In Laedafas, a man in his 30s has died to a bullet from an unknown source while watching the protests from his window.
Dozens are getting arrested all around the country, with Malbory police arresting around 1,500 alone. In Hattington, the largest city in Victoria, possibly has the most violent protests in Malborya right now. The police cars have been set on fire, one of which had two officers inside, killing both. The police department building has also been set on fire, with all exits closed to ensure a painful death inside, which possibly resulted in over 30 dead. Elduvy possibly had the most peaceful protests out of any other region, though the violence has escalated there as well.
The protests are getting bigger and the streets are getting louder. Everybody is wondering what Archambault will have to say...

BREAKING: TRUCK DRIVES THROUGH AN ANTI-WAR RALLY IN HATTINGTON, NUMBERS CURRENTLY UNKNOWN
The perpetrator was killed shortly after.
(The Malboryan Journal)
A truck, whose identity of the owner is unknown, for now, has ridden over an anti-war rally in Southeast Hattington at 4:44 pm. It is reported that the driver was killed by what it seemed like an armed protester. An investigation has started by the Malboryan police and the Malboryan Intelligence Agency. More information will follow. It is expected for Archambault to do a statement on the attack.

94 dead and hundreds injured in Hattington truck attack, lockdown issued
Governor of Victoria has issued a lockdown to the city until further notice.
(Libertate)
Along with the protests, the region of Victoria has been shaken yet again with a truck attack. A man, who has still not been identified, rode his truck into an anti-war rally in Southwest Hattington. Clear numbers have now been given for the first time: 94 dead, and at least 500 injured.
"I am sending thoughts and prayers to those who have died and those who are recovering." Perin Descera, the Victorian governor said in a press conference right after the attacks. "Prime Minister has advised me to issue a lockdown because of possible suspicions of terrorism. Therefore, the city of Hattington will be subject to lockdown until further notice. The police will enforce it and help those who are in need." Descera has also ensured that there will be no violence during the lockdown.
Vincent Archambault has also expressed his condolences for the terror attack. Investigations still continue.
