CHAPTER ONE
Vincent Archambault was confident that he wanted to invade Eastern Haane. He had many ideas for it and wanted to make sure everything aligned. Everything was ready, except... an excuse. Archambault needed a good reason to attack Haane, and he knew it. Television was playing in the background like white noise as Archambault kept thinking about how he could make it perfect.
When television was playing ads, it abruptly stopped and switched to breaking news to show the recent news in Hattington, Victoria. A truck has driven over an anti-war protest. Foreign Minister Nicode Sebastiano burst through the door to tell the news, but it was not needed. The channel was live from the city, showing absolute devastation. Sebastiano was quite surprised but unexpectedly happy.
"This is our chance."
Archambault knew exactly what to do. He called the Governor of Victoria, Perin Descera. She picked it up, quite excited that Archambault called her.
"Hello, dear Prime Minister! How's it going in Malbory?"
"Thank you, Descera. I was wondering if you could do me a favour..."
"Well, what is it?"
"Put a lockdown and a curfew on the city of Hattington. I have suspicions that this is a terror attack and it could damage more Victorians. Use the entire Victorian force if necessary."
"Ah... Okay."
"Also, very, very important: When you have the body of the perpetrator, call me immediately. We'll transform it into a morgue with higher security. He was dead, correct?"
"...Yes. I'll inform you about it."
"Thank you, Descera."
Archambault hung up the phone.

EU COUNCILLOR DEBATE - ROAD TO MALBORYAN ELECTIONS MAY 2020 - MBOTV
(Audience applause and cheering.)
Emilie Marie-Louise: Salut, Malboryans! Welcome to the debate. we are live from our studios at Malbory. once I call out their names, you're going to see three potential councillors that may follow Ms Ioneli's... debatable legacy.
Emilie Marie-Louise: I have no doubts that each one these candidates can do wonderful jobs if they get to become the council member. however just one will make it through the Europolis... Oh, Mother, I make it sound like this can be a talent show or something... (Audience laughs.) Anyways, here they are! Candidate number one, Claudia Leon!
(Claudia Leon walks to the stage, waving at the audience, shortly moving towards her seat. The audience starts clapping, except the leftists.)
Emilie Marie-Louise: Woo, now that's a reaction! Let's see our candidate number two, Kent Evergreen!
(Kent Evergreen walks to the stage, repeating "thank you" a handful of times. The audience starts clapping, louder than they did before. hearable boos also can be heard, however. the security acts quickly to take them out, whereas Kent's supporters attempt to suppress the boos by clapping harder.)
Emilie Marie-Louise: Mother Anna. What a chaotic scene we're in. (The camera focuses on security dragging the protestors off the studio.) So, if all of that has ended... (The camera focuses back to Emilie.) Let's get on with our third and last candidate, Vald Linda!
(Vald Linda walks to the stage and goes to her seat while not addressing the audience. For once, everybody starts clapping, even for a brief period.)
Emilie Marie-Louise: Alright! so, the way this is going to work is that we've got questions ready for you three to answer. You're going to speak and discuss them on the period that's given to you.
Emilie Marie-Louise: Therefore, after all this... let the debate begin! (Audience cheering)
Emilie Marie-Louise: We are going to begin with an issue relating to our Prime Minister. what's your opinion on Vincent Archambault? Is he doing a decent job so far?
Kent Evergreen: Yes, but can be better.
Claudia Leon: No.
Vald Linda: Yes.
Emilie Marie-Louise: If you get to become the European council member, what's going to be the issues you're going to focus on?
Kent Evergreen: I will focus on issues regarding human rights all around the European Union.
Claudia Leon: I will specialize in repealing restrictive laws to offer the member states additional freedom on their choices.
Vald Linda: I will target acts coming from different member states, and find ways on how to fix them.
Emilie Marie-Louise: Now, let's talk about some foreign affairs. what is your stance on Malboryan sanctions against the United Reichs of Reitzmag?
Kent Evergreen: I support it. Malborya must not associate itself with rogue nations.
Claudia Leon: Although I understand the concerns, I think we should relax our sanctions, to make better relations with Reitzmag.
Vald Linda: I support the decision made by the Malboryan government.
Emilie Marie-Louise: What is your stance on the Inquistan rebellion, and the fall of archbishop Craticus?
Kent Evergreen: I stand with the people of Inquista.
Claudia Leon: I support the Inquistan folk.
Vald Linda: I'm hoping that Inquista chooses a good leader this time. only time can tell.
Emilie Marie-Louise: Fascinating visions, indeed! Onto the following question. what's your opinion on our relations with Spain?
Kent Evergreen: I'm happy to see our relations turning more positive. I do not doubt that Spain is an excellent and loyal ally of The Malboryan Republic.
Claudia Leon: Healthy relations with a country, whether or not it's Spain, Angleter or Gallorum, ought to be essential no matter what. this is why I oppose the sanctions put against Reitzmag.
Vald Linda: I think we should always be careful declaring who is our allies and who is our enemies. I think both Mr Evergreen and Ms Leon are acting way too enthusiastic about this regard.
Emilie Marie-Louise: Since... well, you guys are gonna be EU Councillors, let me ask an EU-related question. What areas should the European Council legislate on, and what issues does it have no right to legislate on?
Kent Evergreen: I believe there should be a fine balance between the nation's choices and the decisions of the Union. What I believe, however, is that the EU shouldn't legislate on national affairs, internal or foreign.
Claudia Leon: The EU should make it optional for member states to choose which legislations they're going to place into force or not. Otherwise, it's tyranny.
Vald Linda: I think the European Union should be able to legislate on everything.
Emilie Marie-Louise: Alright. Here's our last question for this debate: What are your thoughts on the legalisation of cannabis on the European level?
Kent Evergreen: Considering things like cigarettes and alcohol are sold wide round the world, I don't think legalisation would be harmful.
Claudia Leon: The only legalisation I am supporting is the use of cannabis for medical purposes. Recreational weed is a no-no.
Vald Linda: I will not support legalisation. I think that we should go additional and make cigarettes and alcohol illegal, too.
Emilie Marie-Louise: Well, thank you for answering all of the questions! This debate was great. The audience, let's offer one last applause to our candidates!
(Audience cheering.)
Emilie Marie-Louise: (Audience still cheering, Emilie is troubled to speak thanks to extreme noise.) And that's it for the debate. Goodbye!

CHAPTER FOUR
Vincent Archambault was in Hattington for further information, along with the MIA. The MIA finally acquired the body. Now, they could start the smearing.
"Okay. Have we acquired the name of the guy? Who is he?"
"His name is Merido Nekvillzo. The guy has a lot of criminal records. An entire binder dedicated to him. Now that is something."
"So we're going to erase all the information and records off the Malboryan systems, apparently. Then we're going to put the blame on Haane."
"Archambault's a mastermind, dude. No way this won't work."
"Yeah."
Archambault was waiting in the MIA headquarters with Director Mathena. He was also quite excited as he could finally start proceeding with the operation.
As all of the identity information got erased and replaced with a new Haanean one, Archambault grinned bigger. He could prove what Malborya was all about... or so he thought.
"It's done."
Deputy director's words woke him up from what it seemed like a small daydream.
"His new name is Markus Krog Mathiesen. He came from Eastern Haane two months ago. We even prepared some evidence that he was actively supporting Josephine Areai." Deputy director then handed Archambault the evidence. It was silent for around half a minute, but it felt like hours.
"Good. Very good."
Meanwhile, General Cato gathered a small group of soldiers for a secret emergency meeting. Majors, captains, colonels... Many soldiers from many ranks.
"Gentlemen, I am so glad all of you have gotten here. Archambault has gotten out of control. There is a big chance that he will destroy our army with his imperialist policies. There is no need for a total invasion of Eastern Haane. He has gone insane to the point where he doesn't see the harms of this operation. I'm afraid that we'll have to do the worst of the worst..."
To be continued...

CHAPTER THREE
General Augusta Cato picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"We need to talk."
General Cato immediately recognized that voice. It was the MIA Director, Mullier Mathena. They were quite close friends back in the day, but as they got into their jobs, they started to talk less and less.
"Ah, Mullier! I'm so stoked to hear your voice again. It's been months!"
"Yes."
Mathena was nervous... Really nervous. He was hoping to cut the call soon. He couldn't talk what he wanted on the phone.
"Ah... I assume it's an emergency situation? Okay... I'll pick you from the building in three hours."
Cato hung up the phone.
Three hours later, General Cato was right on time, waiting outside the door of the MIA headquarters. Mullier got into the car a while after.
"My friend, your sound was quite nervous and tinny on the phone. Are you threatened?"
"Sort of."
"Who is it?"
"Well... The Prime Minister."
"What?"
"I don't know! He's planning something. He is obsessed with taking over Haane."
"I didn't know that. I'm confused. What does he want?"
"So, that truck attack in Hattington. He wants me to help him mask it as a terror attack from Josephine Areai, even if it's not."
"And that way, he can justify a war with Haane."
"Exactly."
"Did you agree?"
"Well, I had to! How do you think I'm talking to you right now? I have to give him the body."
"Then we have to stop him before he does anything. That military is not his."
...
"I'll show him."

94 dead and hundreds injured in Hattington truck attack, lockdown issued
Governor of Victoria has issued a lockdown to the city until further notice.
(Libertate)
Along with the protests, the region of Victoria has been shaken yet again with a truck attack. A man, who has still not been identified, rode his truck into an anti-war rally in Southwest Hattington. Clear numbers have now been given for the first time: 94 dead, and at least 500 injured.
"I am sending thoughts and prayers to those who have died and those who are recovering." Perin Descera, the Victorian governor said in a press conference right after the attacks. "Prime Minister has advised me to issue a lockdown because of possible suspicions of terrorism. Therefore, the city of Hattington will be subject to lockdown until further notice. The police will enforce it and help those who are in need." Descera has also ensured that there will be no violence during the lockdown.
Vincent Archambault has also expressed his condolences for the terror attack. Investigations still continue.

RE: Preparation
CHAPTER TWO
Perin Descera did what Archambault asked, as she was also scared of what happened in the biggest city of the region she governed. She didn't know anything and was incredibly confused and horrified about the attack. She kept walking around her office because of stress, hoping that this lockdown would protect her citizens. But for Archambault, she was no use anymore. He could continue with his plan of justifying a war in Eastern Haane. After all, he wanted to paint a bigger picture for Malborya in the European Union than whatever Eusebiu did.
Archambault sent an e-mail to the director of MIA (Malboryan Investigation Agency) to establish a meeting with him, director, deputy director and Sebastiano. The MIA was also aware of the rather unusual lockdown, so they accepted the invitation to find out what is going on. Around six hours later, the four men sat on a conference room below the ground level. The director started the conversation with Archambault.
"Mr Archambault, we're glad to see you. We are aware of the situation and have already started an investigation. We may show you what we have so far, though it's still early."
"Thank you for your fine help, but I need you to do something else. I need to make sure that corpse is in the hands of the MIA."
The deputy director chimed in, rather confused.
"...The corpse of the perpetrator?"
"Yes. You and your director will acquire the body and we will erase its identity, adding a new one. To be more specific, a Haanean one. This is quite an important step to stop that infectious country that is Eastern Haane! As you know, I need justification."
The director couldn't believe what he was hearing, but he also didn't have a choice but to accept. He knew that Archambault had surrounded himself with boxes of guns, ready to be fired at him if anything went the opposite of his way. He couldn't believe his country was not considered a dictatorship yet. Archambault continued.
"I know how to put some nils on your pockets. You do not want to miss the chance. Time's running out... You better make it quick."
Archambault left the room with Sebastiano, who was rather silent during the whole session. For Archambault, everything was slowly going into place. He could not wait, but he had to. But he also had to make it quick before the Republic liberated the whole country, which would ruin his chances.

BREAKING: TRUCK DRIVES THROUGH AN ANTI-WAR RALLY IN HATTINGTON, NUMBERS CURRENTLY UNKNOWN
The perpetrator was killed shortly after.
(The Malboryan Journal)
A truck, whose identity of the owner is unknown, for now, has ridden over an anti-war rally in Southeast Hattington at 4:44 pm. It is reported that the driver was killed by what it seemed like an armed protester. An investigation has started by the Malboryan police and the Malboryan Intelligence Agency. More information will follow. It is expected for Archambault to do a statement on the attack.

RE: Malboryan Newspapers
Protests spark all across Malborya from all sides regarding the Haanean Civil War
The conflict creates quite a lot of polarization.
(Mainecras)
As Archambault prepares more and more for a Malboryan invasion (or liberation, depending on which side you stand on) of Eastern Haane, the streets get filled with more and more people. After Archambault's tweet and the governmental statement from Malbory City, everyone took it to the streets to show their support or their despisement. In just 12 hours, protests and rallies about Eastern Haane were seen in all eleven regions.
Malbory is now more militarized than ever before, challenging the days of Drava Centreo. It is also where the most intense clashes are. The governor, Luka Merdena, issued a lockdown which meant all roads to Malbory were closed. No one could leave or come in. Thousands, with some news sources claiming as much as half a million, were out in the streets to either show solidarity with Archambault or boycott him, with some calling for a total demilitarization. The hashtags #DemilitarizeMalborya and #HandsOffHaane were trending, as well as #AllHandsOnHaane, which is the opposite of #HandsOffHaane. The police do not hesitate to use tear gas, with some even reporting sounds of bullets. According to the citizens of Montaigne, both sides are vulnerable to equal violence, citing the police's only purpose is to shoo off the protesters.
Vasilica Da Anna is another hotspot for the protests, as well as other cities in the region of Rosetta. In Aruvail, considered the most conservative city of Rosetta, a lynch campaign has been reported against people supporting demilitarization. Similar reports have also been filed in Lachte and Klocke-Yoyl. In Laedafas, a man in his 30s has died to a bullet from an unknown source while watching the protests from his window.
Dozens are getting arrested all around the country, with Malbory police arresting around 1,500 alone. In Hattington, the largest city in Victoria, possibly has the most violent protests in Malborya right now. The police cars have been set on fire, one of which had two officers inside, killing both. The police department building has also been set on fire, with all exits closed to ensure a painful death inside, which possibly resulted in over 30 dead. Elduvy possibly had the most peaceful protests out of any other region, though the violence has escalated there as well.
The protests are getting bigger and the streets are getting louder. Everybody is wondering what Archambault will have to say...
