Speaker and Deputy Speaker NominationsNominations for the offices of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the European Council will hereby commence.
The duties of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker consist of keeping Council records, maintaining order and peace during debates, and ensuring that Council procedures operate smoothly. The offices of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker are subject to 18-month long terms. Any European Councillor can run for either available position.
NOMINATIONS start NOW and end at 05:30 GMT, August 24th, 2019. Speaker candidates will then DEBATE until 05:30 GMT, August 31st, 2019. A VOTE will then be held for BOTH Speaker and Deputy Speaker, and will last until 05:30 GMT, September 7th, 2019.

Candidate Name: Edward Firoux

Biography: Councillor Firoux rose quickly through the ranks of the Inquistan diplomatic service, serving as an ambassador for the country from 2011 to 2013, when he became Inquista's representative on the European Council. He is currently the longest-serving member of the European Council, where he has made his mark as an active legislator, proposing almost a dozen bills and two dozen non-legislative motions. In 2017, Councillor Firoux was elected as the first-ever Deputy Speaker of the European Council, before rising to the position of Speaker in 2018. -

Eurogroup Affiliation: EPABiography: Marion Rousselot graduated from La Massognes Institute, Gallorum's most prestigious university, with a Bachelor's Degree in Religious Studies before returning for a second degree in political science. She began her career in spirituality, receiving positive representation from several celebrity clients to become the biggest spiritual guru in the country. She has since decided that bringing spirituality to politics has become her main priority. As an emergency appointment, the Gallorum government has sent her to Europolis.
She promises to be a champion of diverse views in the Council and bring balance and positive energy to debates.
