Summit between the Governments of Reitzmag and Ruthund
Zgulenin Hall, Kazmurbirha, Ruthund
28 June, 2021- 2 July, 2021Since the fall of the Old Regime in the late 20th century, Ruthund had been slow in thawing relations between itself and Europe. Though its true that Ruthund had become more democratic, much of the country still held Europe in distrust. Under Steward Zgeirtan's government, great strides have been made to break the cultural barriers with Ruthund's neighbors to the south, yet his work was not complete. Receiving an unlikely proposal, the Reitzmic government made a suggestion to establish a joint program for students from Reitzmag and Ruthund to study abroad in each others' countries. Zgeirtan considered this proposal with great interest. Afterall, this would improve relations with Reitzmag, a political ally that would be instrumental in preventing more EU encroachment in internal Ruthenish affairs. Secondly, it was core to Zgeirtan's belief that Ruthund be a power that while staying true to its more vital traditions, became a stronger power. This was true particularly in respects to economic power and cultural influence. Indeed, this was perhaps the first step towards a Rutheno-Reitzmic friendship and not less importantly, the first time that Ruthens cast down their isolationist instincts.
Steward Zgeirtan on the morning of the 23rd of June, just after the Ruthenish New Year's celebrations were finished, sent an invitation to the Prime Minister of Reitzmag or any other members of His Majesty's government he may deem fit over to Kazmurbirha to see this Student Exchange Program done. Accompanying the Steward would be the Cultural Affairs Councilor for the Rigefordjoz Ethundaz Hurdamzen to assist him in his errand. At the meeting, there would be Tea and Zitdrenoz or Ruthenish shortbread-- often used for coffee or tea.

The Prime Minister had received the invitation prior to the visit and informed his attendance ahead. Preparations had already been done for the first time that a Reitzmic Prime Minister will ever set foot on Ruthenish soil. He felt bad he couldn't attend the Ruthenish New Year due to the conflict in Istkalen, but the people of Reitzmag are the priority.Early in the morning he woke up to cook his breakfast and prepare for the flight. The car was already waiting outside to join the motorcade while police increase visibility along the route to provide security. As he finishes dressing up, he immediately went to his wife to bid goodbye and heads downstairs where members of the media are ready to cover the historic moment. He boarded the car and the convoy went straight for the airport where the Vespinas are waiting to take him to Ruthund.
Hampton City International Airport
The motorcade arrived in time, the honour guards for the departure lined up leading to the stairs. Simon went up the stairs and met the cabin crew before finally seating. The cabin starts to be pressurized and the door closed while the plane taxis down to the runway. After a go-signal from the ATC Tower, the throttles are up and the Vespinas take-off.Kazmubirha, Ruthund
After hours of flying, the plane landed at the airport designated. Government officials of Ruthund were seen at the window preparing to welcome Simon at Ruthund. Slowly but surely, the plane parked at the ramp and the stairs were mated. The doors opened and some people came out before Simon got out. -
As the Reitzmic plane landed on the airstrip, the Ruthenish delegation prepared to meet with the Reitzmic Prime Minister alongside his entourage. In no time at all, the Prime Minister Simon and Steward Zgeirtan met each other with a firm handshake. "Great to see you, Your Excellency. Welcome to Ruthund, I hope your trip was safe and not too tiring!" Zgeirtan said, as rehearsed with his advisors that totally did not pull their hair off in the process.
After many hand shakings between the Ruthenish and Reitzmic delegations. Both united in making their way to the Zgulenin Hall, a complex right next the Rothgelikon-- the Capitol building of the Ruthenish government. The Hall originally was intended for the personal use of the King during the Old Regime, but since the beginning of the Stewardship, it has been converted into a place where large state meetings are held. The complex was built in the traditional Ruthenish style, though with the interior largely renovated to modern standards. The Hall boasted a sizeable grove in its courtyard, giving the Hall a flair something similar to a Ruthenish temple which are scattered around the city of Kazmurbirha.
Zgulenin HallThe Ruthenish delegation arrived to the complex briefly before the Reitzmic delegation. As the Steward and the Cultural Affairs Councillor awaited, the Reizmic Prime Minister met the two up upon the steps. Both the Steward and the Prime Minister found each other on podiums in front of Ruthenish media to give their thoughts before the meeting started. Zgeirtan spoke first.
"I would like to thank Prime Minister Simon Bridges for joining us in this beautiful day at Zgulenin Hall. My government has been working overtime to make sure that not only does Ruthund remain a strong power in Europe, but one that can build understanding and peace between different culture throughout Europe. After talking with the Prime Minister Bridges, I have discovered that he shares the same goal as me and I am looking forward to working with him later today on establishing a joint student exchange program between both of our governments to build a common understanding between Reitzmag and Ruthund. Thank you"
The cameras veered towards Prime Minister Bridges as he prepared to speak.

"I'd like to first thank the Government of Ruthund for opening these diplomatic relations with our country. I believe that this initiative is an important step in the further development of both our countries. Both Reitzmag and Ruthund have a rich cultural and historical background, and these diplomatic engagements are important in enhancing and developing our nations' cultures. Reitzmag is currently working on many initiatives like these to establish peace, stability, and development in the region. And with this I look forward to discussing the agenda for this meeting with your leaders. I wish that this meeting would be fruitful and make a mark on the histories of both our nations. Thank you"
Simon stepped back from the podium and bowed.

After further pleasantries exchanged over the podium, the two leaders proceeded to enter the Hall alongside their delegations. The building was cool and lit by white fluorescent lights with much of the interior, except for the outer rooms, resembling a modern office building. As both delegations where led down a hallway they soon found themselves descending down a flight of stairs into the conference room.
Lord Zgeirtan was with the Reitzmic Prime Minister on the way down to the flight of stairs. As they walked down he asked the Prime Minister, "What kind of relationship are you looking for between Ruthund and Reitzmag? I get the impression that Reitzmag is interested in pursuing further relations, so I would like to know from you what you see our nations' relationships like over the next few years."
-
Simon descended with Zgeirtan down the stairs. He was not really sure how Ruthernish people view the country and so he kept himself careful on whatever he says.
SB: "Indeed we are very interested in deepening our ties, and I'm very much hoping that my visions of the partnerships our nation would share will come true with this summit. I've been thinking very much on how our nations will benefit from economic partnerships, as well as cultural, academic, and technological programs. With all of these, I believe that both our nations will heavily benefit and develop together."
