Jean IV sends an official note to Gaston of Vierthune, Seneschal of the House of Electors, announcing his intention to abdicate
On June last year, the sovereign announced his upcoming abdication due to poor health. As it was later known, Jean de Mérignac-Ponton was diagnosed in early 2021 with early-stage Parkinson's Disease. Due to this reason, and in order to focus on his fight against the disease's effects, his majesty decided to abdicate the throne so that the constitutionally foreseen process can start to elect a successor.
In spite of an abdication being expected to occur last year, a sudden episode of epilepsia that left the monarch incapacitated for some months and a slow recovery impeded the proper procedure to be followed. After this official note to the Seneschal, the House of Electors is exected to be convened in late september/early october to vote on a successor.
While it is still too early to talk about prospective contenders, speculations seem to point mostly towards Princess Grace of Poiret, as well as King Maximilian of Voorland who is seen as the candidate representing the interests of Dutch-speaking nationalists as well as Germanic-speaking principalities.

Given the relative proximity between Ineland and Europolis, and the Inelandic governments' constant bet on close-to-carbon-neutral means of transportation, Minister-President Merckx and his entourage opted for rail as their mean to get to the European capital for the leaders' summit. The previous months, internal issues had kept Kasper apart from EU affairs. However, an occasion such as the leaders' summit required of his presence. Something which he, honestly, didn't dislike due to his enjoyment of those little openings for hallway diplomacy. After the 7 hour long trip, the presidential train finally entered Europolis' Central Station where a reception to the delegation by the Inelandic representation to the EU was due to take place.
After a brief drive around the city, Kasper and his entourage finally arrived to the venue of the summit. Most of the other leaders had already arrived by then, which gave the Inelanders the opportunity for your usual, glamourous late arrival.

Dear Europeans, let me welcome you all to EuroVoice 43 in Zeevorde on behalf of IRT-RTI and the EUBC! My name is Ferdinand Molière and I will be your host for this opening gala.
Tonight is just the beginning of our journey to rediscover, as we do with every EV edition, the path to music. Despite some previous editions having featured a theme for the contest, as with our previous edition in Fremet this one has no predetermined theme, with absolute freedom by participants to submit any entry they please. However, we have one general underlying theme here as with every other edition: HAVE FUN WITH MUSIC!
Within the coming days, nations from all across our continent will be anouncing their entries to the contest so that we can find out, with your votes, which is EuroVoice 43's best song!

About Companies:
Frequency: Given ridership estimation and calculated operation times, the aim is to reach a frequency of 10 departures per hour in each direction and route at Central 2, using double trainsets in 40% of services to increase capacity while keeping freqüencies within a reasonable amount, with first departures at 5am and last departures 8.59pm. When it comes to Southern 3, frequencies would be of 4 departures per hourd in each direction under the same conditions expressed for Central 2, with a reevaluation of frequencies after the first 6 months of franchise to adapt frequencies to ridership evolution.
Service plans: Upgrade to 365kmh top speed (on C2) by performing gradual track replacements over a 5 year period on specific segments to cause minimal disruption to services. Besides infrastructure adaptation, tilting technology on the trainsets will allow for high speeds on the already existing tracks and time saving at station approach by keeping higher speeds. Service will be realised with 600-seat (on a 2-2 seater configuration) Reynauld Axe trainsets including onboard wifi and television, restaurant car, first-class meeting room facilities and café service. A new system of fast ticket acquisition will be implemented at platforms, with an easy three step process: destination, number of passengers and payment, with seats being automatically assigned and delivered on a basic print ticket. Online and in-station ticket machine booking will include an option to buy multimodal tickets linking FastLink services with SINA flights out of Cair Para (C2), Hamborg (C2, S3) and Porterdam (S3) airports, allowing for passengers of long- and medium-distance flights to better arrange their trips, also allowing for the acquisition of SICF train tickets with a discount (up to 15%) if their flight destination is in Ineland.
Hugo METTERNICHT (Trondheim) | After what surely was a long yet exciting night for Clara Luciani, the Inelandic singer won EuroVoice 42 which took place tonight at the city of Trondheim in Fremet.
Ineland struggled to keep the 4th position in the initial result announcement, but soon went into a three-way competition with Nofoaga and Icholasen (the Free one) for first place. However, our entry slowly increased its lead while the next 5 entries started switching positions in the leaderboard until mathematical victory was achieved when the penultimate result came in. In the end, Ineland finished first with 96 points, followed by Istkalen as second with 82 points and Icholasen as third with 76. Host Fremet came in tenth with 54 points.
With tonights win, Ineland is expected to host the 43rd edition of the European Union's song contest and contacts between the EUBC and state broadcaster RTI-IRT are already underway in order to start planning. Sandrine Meckelmans, an RTI-IRT spokesperson, has already said that a bidding process will be taking place with a host city being announced later this month.
