European Great War/Reformations
-
Does anyone have a European Great War in their history and did one happen in history. Think it would be cool to have European great war with two sides like WW1 allies and a sorta axis like power. If so where would nations stand on it and which side would they have joined on and which side would have won. Which blocs would have formed?
Also would othewr wars like the religious wars between protestants and catholics have happened just like in real (i.e 100 years war for instance) and if so when. and whether a big reformation movement happened or it was more of a sorta many smaller national reformations with ideas eventually spreading out.
I'm thinking maybe 20's -40's woould be good for a great war in Europe of WW1 standard possibly ending up in a bloody stalemate with no victory for either side establishing Pax Europa peace due to countries culturally turning against mass wars as a result of the Great War.

I think one of the issues of having a canon Great War is that we do not have a consistent list of nations. People come and go and when one nation leaves that was key to being in our regional Great War, it would simply just be more effort than its worth to reconstruct what actually happened-- at least in my opinion. I share your sentiments though that it would be nice to have a regional history, but I think in a sense, itd be like opening a pandora's box that we will end up regret opening.

This would only be for nations that want to be part of said Great War hence this topic. This is to find out who would have wanted to have been involved in a great war so we can establish fronts etc.. .Perhaps it would make sense for it to be based around them main actors being nations that have been here at least 6 months or so to keep things semi-stable in terms of changes etc. Perhaps the regional history should be more broad than detail specific like who backed who etc what the generally accepted trigger or cause is rather than focusing on individual battles and minutia and do similar with stuff like reformation and religious wars etc then nations can fill in little details on their own like battles that happened in their territory.

Another alternative is a series of regional wars between nations who want that if a great war scenario doesn't make sense (.e the nations are too far apart that want to be involved etc.) Same for reformation too , maybe there would be multiple reformations that resulted in different splits like in real life.

If you want to arrange a regional war background with other nations, cool! I encourage you to do it, I think it would bring more life to RP. But I just don't think any region-wide rules or timeline concerning history will be worth anyone's time. But its up to the mods, I reckon when it comes to region-wide stuff.
