At Hampton International Airport, guards are dispatched at a gate to wait for the coming Strathaean delegates. They opted for a regular economy-class commercial flight with regular passengers instead of an exclusive flight. The plane arrived, regular passengers were then asked to disembark while the Strathaean delegation stayed. After everyone else was out, the Strathaeans were escorted and asked to come down the apron instead of proceed to the bridge. They were then brought to a convoy of cars and welcomed by their security detail. The convoy brought them to a helipad where a helicopter of the Army Air Corps was waiting to take them to the Black House complex.
After a short flight, the delegation arrived at the palace complex's helipad and are received by an honour guard while Simon waits in the distance. The doors opened and the guards present arms while Simon approaches the guests.
SB: "Welcome to Reitzmag Ms. MacPheadair, I hope you had a nice flight."
-
Moira Dubhshlin MacPheadair had a good flight. They had tried to save as much carbon and money as possible as they always did but flying was necessary today. After landing she waited for the other passengers to leave before leaving the plan to the press cameras. She was wearing a prominent , very visible "Strathae is Sorry" T-Shirt and hat saying "Sorry Reitzmag" and other articles saying "Sorry Catholics" . She wanted the first image to be that of an apologetic nation that acknowledges it mistakes and moves to moving on. She greeted Simon Bridges after he greeted her "Thank you , I very much look forward to seeing a little of your country. I hear you have some beautiful places and very much hope we can get to good positive relations again between our nations."She would after all the official meetings visit the Strathaen Association to meet with expats. -
Simon wasn't a fan of the outfit if the Strathaeans, but diplomacy is diplomacy.
SB: "Indeed, we do have a lot of beautiful places just like Strathae."Both leaders are then led to a part of the complex where honour guards are waiting. They stand on a small platform and the national anthems of Reitzmag is then played, followed by that of Strathae.
Cannons can be heard roaring from the background as the Armed Forces provide a gun salute. After all the pageantry and fanfare, they proceed through the regular procedures for visiting leaders. Both eventually proceed to Gyotaejon (교태전) where the meeting will take place. A long table along with many chairs are prepared inside. Simon takes his seat along with the rest and the Strathaean Delegation.
SB: "Alright, I'm glad that you came here safely Ms. MacPheadair. I think it'd be best you do the honours of telling us what you wish we achieve in this meeting."
-
Moira opened with what she wanted: You will know that our country hasn't had the best of leaders and policies over the last 6 years or so and we are sorry for that honestly which is why I was elected to fix this whole damn mess caused by that monster and the CSP and Alternative. We are certainly working to bring back freedom of speech and media balancing it against protecting privacy and protecting religious rights while balancing that against civil rights.
What we basically want is to reset the relationship release all restrictions between our countries allowing migrant labour flows in both directions to fill gaps in both countries workforces. We can make visas easier for Reitzmen. The second thing we'd like is to offer free trade between our countries for our companies in most fields except farms. We can offer zero tariffs if you do and we can also offer your companies especially green ones the chance to set up with lower costs in Strathae, you can make money off our green market, export your electric cars and be a big part of our transition, in fact we'd like to offer this to all of ECON if you don't mind. What we'd want off you is access to your food markets for exports for us , you will get good quality organic foods from us and we can benefit from your products in our country. We don't unfortunately yet have the skills to make goods in our country that you do. We'd also like to offer you the opportunity to open factories in our country at a lower rate. What do you think?
-
SB: "Our nations kept some level of relations despite the former government. I've received reports of a firewall being set-up in your nation with the aid of Reitzmic tech companies. I wish that this be an issue you could address in your initiatives to balance free speech and privacy. In addition, I'd be happy to open up our economy for more opportunities to Strathaeans. But we must make sure that no more of these situations arise. We have got rid of many people who sought chaos to our country, I hope that your government will take action and responsibility in maintaining this as we also do our part. In terms of free trade and free movement, we'd be very welcome and happy to agree on such. On the area of economic investments, I'll do my best to work on persuading our companies to invest in Strathae and consider all the possible opportunities that may come with it. For food, we do certainly are interested in Strathae's organic food, there's been a recent growing trend for this due to the rise of a new entertainment style in the country called 'K/R-pop'. A lot of the youth in our country have become more interested in enhancing their appearances and our obesity rates have lowered since."
Simon then requests that his words be put on record for the creation of a draft treaty to be signed afterwards.
SB: "Anyway, that's all I could comment about for now. Is there anything else you'd like to say Ms. MacPheadair?"
-
Moira responded " Yes indeed and we are obviously as a government trying to reverse those sort of things not too happy about it. That is being abolished in the upcoming reforms , we made a commitment in our manifesto to get rid of the firewall proposal so all work has stopped on that, the only restrictions that will remain is a reformed anti-doxing law that prevents publishing of home addresses and private contact numbers without permission and the ban on protesting outside homes of people. This would be simply to stop harassment and I'm sure you understand we don't want to go back to the free for all on publishing any and all details on people as it was abused for nefarious purposes by a minority. We definitely want to balance privacy and freedom of speech.
The second thing we wanted to discuss was opening up exchange oppurtunities. As you know we have great practises in agriculture and plenty of our farms working with universities and also lead the way in breeding crops to reduce fertilizer and insectiside use. Your students can exchange out to study this and environmental subjects in much more natural environment and our students could learn about tech in your country especially green technology.
Also we could have companies working together combining your technology and efficiency with our organic processes to make our farming more efficient overall and able to feed more people. So we could do research partnerships to this end. We could encourage farms to sign up to programmes to test new technologies of yours backing the losses if they lose any money due to a failure. I think this could be a proposition that would interest you to use Strathae as a live testbed of your technologies and products with perhaps discounts available for farmers in on the programme from your firms."
-
SB: "I'm glad to hear your assurances Ms. MacPheadair and I would very much look forward to such as we have received various complaints from our nationals that had worked, lived, or visited in your country. Now, on the subject of exchange in both cultural, educational, and technological aspects. I'm very interested in such an agreement. Our country is a leading nation in green technology, especially electric automobiles and viable renewable energy sources. I would do my best to convince Reitzmic tech companies to invest in Strathae, although I do believe they will be very interested. There are also various public schools in Reitzmag that have reported to us which countries they are open to accepting exchange students from, and I must say that there has been a significant increase in the presence of your country's name in these lists."
"Moving on, I think it's best I also introduce some of our country's interests in Strathae. First off, our Armed Forces advised me that your country has a strategic location for some small military base/s. In addition, they also advised me that it'd be best if the location and identity of these bases remain confidential and set under a separate agreement so that your legislature may convene in clandestine when ratifying it. There are also Reitzmic companies that requested to me on access to Strathaean Natural Gas for re-exportation, this would be beneficial for both our countries' economies. Our companies pledged to use extraction technology that has less effect on the environment, such as enclosed flare pits with air filters."
-
Moira listened and then considered. Military bases at least for now would be off limits unless they got into ECON. She said "I will admit military bases without ECON would be problematic for us and it might be down the line we want to join ECON though we could maybe convince parliament that now would be a good time but unfortunately there is a debate between Kiresile non-alignment and ECON.
On Natural Gas we honestly don't know how much natural gas is there as we have never actually tested to see how much there due to or low use of it and the potential environmental costs . We are in advanced talks with another on natural gas but we could allow Reitzmic companies a proportion of contracts subject to the strictest of standards that includes planting enough trees and donating in enough additional renewable energy projects to offset any emissions from the natural gas sales and production. The question is how to get it to you , it perhaps could be liquefied in Brickston. We'd certainly prefer people to be using gas than coal or other more harmful fuels in all honesty."
