Convention intro montage plays.
The audience clap and cheer as Sofia Vergara takes to the stage.
"¡Hola Europa! Mi nombre es Sofia Vergara. I will be your host for this first day of this historic EPA convention. Welcome to Europolis. We're all gathered here together, in solidarity, in the great capital city of the European Union! "
The audience erupts in applause.
"This is so exciting! I am so glad to be here with you all. Seeing all your faces reminds me why we're all in this fight together. I see so many different faces from so many different walks of life and backgrounds. It reminds me that we all have much more common than what divides us. ¡Nosotros!"
Members of the audience cheers and hold up placards that say '¡Nosotros!' on them.
"As a 9th generation Spaniard from the great Spanish city of Glasgow, Escocia, I am proud of my roots and of my heritage. I am also proud to be a European. We all love our countries dearly, and we all love this common European community that we all share in together. We understand that the best way forward is through cooperation and through unity. If one of our countries falls behind, then we all fall behind. That is why we must remain united, and we must ensure that each and every of our countries succeed."
"Of course, we are living in trying and difficult times. Political turbulence has rocked Europe this year. However, through the leadership of the EPA, we have confronted these issues head-on. Our EPA Commissioners have breathed new life into our institutions, they have brought us together at the discussion table, they passed successful and meaningful pieces of legislation, they have revitalized our foreign affairs, and they have made progress in healing our internal divisions, particularly in Leagio and Eastern Haane. Together, we can continue to make progress."
"Naturally, we cannot speak about the hardships or progress we have made this year without remembering those who did not make it along the way. We must always remember those who have paved the way for us. We, as a European community, suffered a tragic loss this year. We suffered from the loss of General Tulsi Gabbard, who was a fierce and principled advocate of the Nicoleizian people, with an unyielding Aloha spirit. Let us now remember and honour her legacy."
A tragic montage of Tulsi Gabbard plays.
The audience looks sorrowful and melancholic as they bow their heads in sadness.
"Now, that we're done remembering her, let's move on," Sofia continues. "It is through our actions, not through our words, in which the EPA proves itself. We are tireless workers and people of action and results. We don't just talk the talk, but we actually walk the walk. As a result, we have won the confidence of many of our detractors and naysayers. Dragan Trymov has been awfully quiet recently, hasn't he?
"Across Europe, the EPA is bring us all together, marching us towards progress and towards a better Europe. We are unafraid to reach across the aisle, to reach compromise, and to unite us all together in solidarity in order to tackle our common problems. That's why I am happy to introduce a former member of MEGA and a former member of the PEL, who have come to endorse the EPA. Please give a round of applause to Igor and Milos."
Sofia departs from the stage as two disheveled and unkempt workers take to podium. The audience cheer and holler in excitement.
"Hello, my name is Igor," the first man, from Pravoslaviya, introduces himself.
"And my name is Milos," the Czech worker introduces himself.
"I used to be a proud member of MEGA. I used to be really racist, I hated women, I hated immigrants, I hated the gays, and I also really hated all those politicians in Europolis. But then, one day, someone on Twitter explained to me kindly - with patience, compassion and understanding - that I was all wrong, and that I didn't have a clue. My eyes were suddenly opened. I realised that I was born privileged as a white, cis, straight male, and I realised it is my duty to uplift those who are less privileged than myself. That's why I'm now a proud supporter of the EPA, which is the most principled and compassionate eurogroup in Europolis."
Milos then began to talk. "Growing up in Czech Slavia, I didn't know about all these eurogroups. I thought they were all neolib fascists. That's why I only ever supported the PEL. Then, recently, when I gained asylum in Inquista, where I now work overtime in a minimum wage job - and understand true freedom - I understand that the EPA, which defends workers - and doesn't try to embargo Icholasen at all - is the true champion of the working class. I am proud to be a supporter of the EPA, and I will endorse any EPA candidate over a PEL candidate."
The audience cheer and the two men then leave the stage as Sofia returns to the podium. Sofia brushes tears away from her eyes.
"What truly touching testimonials. Now, for a performance from one of Europe's... err, greatest artists who we could afford on a budget: Lola Le Lann!"
Lola Le Lann performs her song 'Soleil'.
"Gracias Lola. ¡Eso fue maravilloso! Europe truly has so many beautiful languages, and it is so great to see all these languages expressed in the form of music. Music can really bring us all together. The EPA understands the importance of protecting the rights of minority languages, and the heritage of all European cultures. La diversidad es hermosa."
The audience cheer and applause.
"I will introduce one speaker before we move on to our nomination process, where we nominate our candidate for Internal Affairs. Please give a round of applause to Françoise Cartier, a former train conductor of a Eurostar train that frequently moved between Icholasen and Miraco."
The audience cheer and hold up placards that have 'JUNKTRAIN' written on them. Françoise takes to the podium as Sofia exits the stage.
"Bonjour Europolis. C'est bon d'être ici. I am a proud, working-class Nicoleizian. I have spent my entire life working to provide for me and my family, just for these communist scum to take it all away from me. I am so disappointed to see what has happened to my country, but because of the EPA, I have hope. I have hope that freedom will return to Icholasen's beautiful shores. I have worked my entire life as a train conductor, and I have spent a lot of that time as a conductor with Eurostar. I have never in my life seen a more zealous and passionate champion of Eurostar than the Commissioner of Internal Affairs, Jean Claude Juncker. The man really loves trains. On behalf of working-class train conductors everywhere, I want to offer my deepest gratitude to Commissioner Juncker, who is a true champion of the people, and the champion of European transport. I hope train conductors everywhere join me in supporting Commissioner Juncker for Internal Affairs."
Françoise departs the stage as Sofia returns to the podium.
"You don't think we could start the nomination process without a bit of music? ¡Dios mio! Please put your hands together for famed EV star Alex Diehl!"
Alex Diehl performs his song 'In Meiner Seele'.
Members of the audience stand and cheer as Alex bows after his performance and Sofia settles herself behind the podium again.
"¡Asombroso! Simplemente hermoso. Gracias Alex. Now, it's time for our esteemed members of the EPA to nominate the EPA's candidate for Internal Affairs."
The crowd erupts in thundering applause.
"The delegations will vote in alphabetically, right after one another. We shall begin by calling the delegation from Fremet to nominate their candidate."
The audience cheer as a series of Fremetian chair makers and craftsmen take to the stage, led by Councillor Charles Michel. Sofia kisses Councillor Michel on the cheek before departing from the stage. Councillor Michel takes to podium and delivers a speech as strong as a Fremetain stool, and delivers his nomination vote to Commissioner Jean Claude Juncker. The audience cheers again as Councillor Michel and the Fremetians depart from the stage.
The Nicoleizian delegation then takes to the stage. Councillor Poppy Carlton-Romanov is joined by her husband, George Carlton-Romanov, the Nicoleizian Ambassador to Inquista, their children, and all of Queen Anastasia's children, who are wearing 'RIP TULSI' t-shirts. The children are acting rumbustious and are making a scene on the stage, with one of the triplets crying. Councillor Carlton-Romanov delivers her vote for Commissioner Jean-Claude Juncker.
The Inquistan delegation is next. Speaker Edward Firoux leads a pack of Inquistan Orthodox clergymen and a handful of nuns, some of which seem to be sisters of Saint Dominico's Academy of the Cross. One of the nuns, who is an instructor at the Academy, is holding a placard which states 'READING IS FUNDAMENTAL, YAS GOD – SAVE EDUCATION'. Speaker Firoux delivers his vote to Commissioner Jean Claude-Juncker. The audience cheers.
The delegation from Montenbourg follows. Councillor Emma Granger takes to the stage with a series of Kaasian refugees, who are all wearing t-shirts which state "#EndChildMarriageNow' on them. Once they're all fully on the stage, the Kaasian refugees kneel and raise their fists into the air. Councillor Granger delivers a passionate speech which we have all come to expect, and then delivers her nomination vote to Commissioner Jean Claude Juncker.
The audience ruptures into an exceptionally loud applause as the delegation from Spain takes to the podium next. Councillor Donald Tusk is followed onto the stage by a Spanish entourage consisting of a ship captain, a train conductor, a helicopter pilot, an airline pilot, a tank engineer, a zipline operator and a unicyclist. Councillor Tusk delivers a short speech in Spanish (saving most of his words for later), and then delivers his nomination vote to Commissioner Jean Claude Juncker.
The Vardic delegation is the last one to take to the stage. Councillor Carita Falk is flanked by a series of grim-looking oil rig workers, all of which look very relatable to the Vardic working-class. Councillor Falk nominates Jean Claude Juncker for Internal Affairs. The Vardic Councillor then departs from the stage with her working-class props as the audience erupts in a booming applause. Sofia Vergara returns to the stage.
"The Councillors from the European Alliance have spoken. ¡Nosotros! Vamos! The European Progressive Alliance is proud to nominate Commissioner Jean Claude Juncker for a second term as Commissioner of Internal Affairs!"
The audience all stand in ovation as confetti and balloons drop from the ceiling. Commissioner Juncker is then invited to the stage to deliver his acceptance speech.
-
Juncker stood up and clapped from his seat to those that were clapping him. He then started his way to the stage, where Sofía was waiting. He shook hands with the Councillors and then, kissed Sofía in her cheek 2 times as Spanish people do. Then, Dancing Queen by ABBA started to play and Juncker danced on the stage like the Spanish Londres PM, Theresa May, did in the past, but in his own style:
He had a rally this morning, the campaign had just started. He thanked everyone with gestures, approached to the microphone and then, his speech started while a thundering applause was still taking place.
"Thank you everybody for this welcome! I'm very proud to be the European Progressive Alliance candidate for the Internal Affairs Commission seat once again, and I will be pruder if we again win these elections. We are the EPA, and we know how to set rallies, how to make a better Europe, and no one will teach us how to do it, when we are the biggest and the oldest Eurogroup in the whole Europe. I am going to most of the EU countries, and going to campaign as hard as the last time, well, even harder!
First of all, I would like to talk about the European Progressive Alliance. We are, as I said before, the oldest and bigest Eurogroup. Being the oldest doesn't mean we don't have fresh proposals. The EPA Councillors get proposals to the Council every month, new and impressive proposals which makes Europe much better. But being the oldest also means we are the most experienced. That is one of the EPA guarantees of making a better Europe. Europeans don't want unexperienced or crazy people to lead them, they can't trust on them, it's technically impossible. They want experienced, europeists, intelligent people to lead them. And about being the biggest Eurogroup, that also makes the European Progressive Alliance special. Being the biggest Eurogroup means diverse opinions, debates with different statements which forces us to get a common point on a matter. And we do it. Some say we are "dodgy globalists" or "European destroyers", "EU Dominators". Well, I would like to be sincere about these attacks: They aren't worth the time and I don't care about them. But, I'm going to tell you something: I'm not allowing anyone to lie about us."
After those words, the crowd started a big round of applause to the Internal Affairs Commissioner.
"Secondly, I would like to talk about being Internal Affairs Commissioner. Some of you might think is not a hard work, you just sign papers and say things to keep Europe united. Well, I'm really sorry to ruin your vision of the Internal Affairs seat, but is a really hard work. Crowd laughed You don't know how hard it is to keep Europe united, but in the end, Europe is still alive and better than it was 4 months ago! Even if I had to "suffer" some anti-Juncker campaign in some countries, those motivated me to do a better job than I was doing the day before. Now, I pray for you not having haters. But mines are really kind and sincere with me! Crowd started to laugh They don't like me, I kind of like them, we have an equal relation. Maybe I could describe it as love-hate relationship? Who knows. But we are not getting married, sorry. Crowd laughed and Juncker also did Jokes apart, being your Internal Affairs Commissioner is a great job. And we have set some chapters in the European Union's history books. Under my direction, we have been able to set up the first European Assembly meeting, which was productive and we will repeat if possible. We are trying to turn Leagio green, we solved conflicts in Eastern Haane, travelled to Czech Slavia, we managed to get a decent project for the Eurostar, to which here I will refear as Juncktrain, we are turning Europolis bilding greener and safer, and more things that we are working on. Plot twist, other just took 4 months of holidays."
Crowd started a big round of appluase and laughed. Juncker smiled.
"And last, but not least, I'm going to talk about the campaign that we have just started. We got new ideas, new projects and new things to do that for sure will make Europeans lifes much better. I am not going to be distracted by attacks, or ways to make me lose concentration. We are going for this like we did months ago, we are the EPA, we don't surrender that easy, we never get tired of trying once and again, and again, and again. The European Progressive Alliance values represent me, represent us. And I'm very prud of being a member of this Eurogroup, that will always make me proud of what they are doing. I would like to thank every EPA Commissioner, every EPA Councillor, Prime Minister, President, Minister and everyone that is part of this party, those that made this concention and my candidacy to the Internal Affairs seat possible once again. Without you, this wouldn't be possible. Now, let's go out there and win these elections, for those that are here, for those that make it possible, for those that didn't make the way towards here and for you, Europeans, and our great region, the European Union. THANK YOU!"
A thunderstorming applause took place while Juncker said hello waving his hand, thanking everyone his support from the stage. He smiled, let Sofía the stage and returned to his seat, while shaking hands with those on the way to his seat and approaching to the people that was there too.
Sofia thanked the audience for attending the first day of the convention. After delivering her closing remarks, Sofia waved politely to the crowd as a highlight montage of the convention's first day slowly superseded onto the screen.
-
Convention intro montage plays.
A roaring applause booms from the audience as Taraji P. Henson walks onto the stage and behind the podium.
"Hey Europe, how we doin' today?"
Members of the audience cheer and clap. Taraji laughs and nods.
"Ey! I'm loving the energy. I mean, with all of us gathered here for this historic convention, how could we be feeling anything but great? The energy is so good, man. Hope is in the air. Things are looking better on the horizon. Looking at you all right now, I can see many of you smiling. I can feel the positive and optimistic energy radiating from each and every one of you."
The audience claps in excitement and agreement.
"I just remember months ago, when everything seemed so dark. Revolutions. Protests. Civil war. Threats of international conflict. We really did seem to be on the brink of total chaos. Many of us across Europe felt unsafe and uncertain about our future. In response to this uncertainly, populism swept across Europe with messages of fear and division. Messages of distrust pitted neighbours and allies against one another. Messages which blamed refugees and blamed Europe's most vulnerable people for our continent's problems. With all this noise, it was hard not to feel powerless, overwhelmed, or scared. It was impossible not to feel like we were in the shadows of something truly dark."
"Yet, we did not relent. We did not give up or give in. We rejected division and we rejected fear. We held onto hope. We knew that the sun would rise again, and that there would be a dawn. That's why we elected a full-EPA ticket to the European Commission. "
Audience member stand and clap.
"With Commissioner Juncker and Reynels, and Premier Whiteford, Europe has turned the corner. Many challenge still face us, and there is still a lot of work to do. However, we have managed to climb many hills together, traverse across many stormy rivers, and build many bridges. Together, we are finally seeing the sun rise for the first time in a long time."
"Commissioner Juncker continues to ambitiously and zealously criss-cross around Europe, going to each of the member states, to listen to and to bring people together. Whether it's bringing all of Europe's leaders together at the table, opening new communication channels through the Junckerapp, or successfully aiding efforts to prevent civil war in Eastern Haane. Commissioner Juncker is devoted to truly serving Europe."
"Commissioner Reynels has revitalized our region's foreign affairs, building our Union's influence and power abroad, and he has made numerous new allies along the way. With the creation of the Eurocorps, we are one step closer to being more secure than we have ever before. With our new allies by our side, we are strong in numbers."
"All the while, Premier Whiteford has reminded us why she is considered one of the most preeminent Premiers of our time. Under her leadership, the European Commission has worked in tandem with the European Council to deliver tangible results. With a vigorous and energetic Commission, a historically busy and active Council, and reinvigorated European institutions, Premier Whiteford has overseen a period of great transformation, progress and activity. Whenever Whiteford leads, Europe finds moving forward. Premier Whiteford has demonstrated that a Premier Commissioner can act as a catalyst for great change and as a beacon of leadership."
Members of the audience cheer loudly and a clap enthusiastically.
"Premier Whiteford wears big shoes - no really, they're ginormous - so whoever follows her has great shoes to fill. Literally and metaphorically. That's why it's imperative that the EPA is able to rise to occasion, and to continue Premier Whiteford's legacy, and that we nominate an able and experienced candidate for Premier Commissioner."
The audience erupts into an applause.
"Our esteemed leaders in the EPA will nominate a candidate for Premier Commissioner soon enough. But first, the EPA will present and sign a brand new eurogroup manifesto... and we have some special performances just for you. Please put your hands together for Bleachers!"
Bleachers perform their song 'Rollercoaster.'
"Thank you, Bleachers. Wow, what superstars. What game changers. What trend setters. Just like the European Progressive Alliance. No, truly. The European Progressive Alliance became the first ever eurogroup to emerge following the historic eurogroup reforms that were undertaken during Premier Whiteford's first term as Premier Commissioner. Since then, the EPA has continued to set the stage and raise the bar, every step of the way, out in front of all other groups. Beginning with its bold manifesto, drafted in 2016, the EPA has made great strides in passing and enacting legislation in the European Council. No other eurogroup has passed nearly as much as the European Progressive Alliance. No other eurogroup comes remotely close."
Members of the audience clap and nod enthusiastically in agreement.
"Since this commission term alone, the European Progressive Alliance has passed the Act to Establish the European Corps, the Ocean Protection Act, the European Heath Organization Act, the Net Neutrality Act and the Europe Day Act. Not to mention the great contributions that the EPA makes by amending and bettering existing legislation. The EPA is a eurogroup of plans, policies and results. That's why it's important that the EPA maintains an up-to-date and current eurogroup manifesto. To present the new manifesto of the European Progressive Alliance, please give a warm welcome to the Chairman of the EPA, and the author of many of the aforementioned pieces of legislation, Speaker Edward Firoux!"
The audience stands in ovation as Speaker Firoux walks onto the stage and gives Taraji a kiss on both her cheeks, and then walks to the podium.
"Thank you everyone. As our girl Taraji has pointed out, we have been extremely busy in the European Council, particularly in this current Commission term. We have made tremendous progress, and we have passed a historic amount of bills within a short period of time. Now, after four years, it is time that we update our eurogroup manifesto. I have the document with me here, which has been updated with the input, opinions, and expertise of each of our caucus members. As Europe enters a new era, so will the European Progressive Alliance."
"In our new and updated manifesto, the European Progressive Alliance has dedicated substantially new focus to ensuring that we forge a European Union that is intentional and clear with its direction and purpose. We hope to forge a European Union that is meaningful, and where membership is worthwhile and consequential. We hope to forge a European Union with even stronger institutions, which should have clear and evident roles and responsibilities. Above all, we hope to forge a European Union that is even more united, progressive and just."
Speaker Firoux raises the 2020 Manifesto in the air as the crowd erupt into a loud applause. Speaker Firoux then places it onto the podium and takes out a black pen and a gavel.
"I will now invite each of my colleagues to join me, and sign our new eurogroup manifesto."
The audience cheers as Councillor Carlton-Romanov walks onto the stage, signs the manifesto, and then stands behind Speaker Firoux. Councillor Carita Falk comes onto the stage next and signs the document. Speaker Firoux then signs the document himself. Councillor Emma Granger walks onto the stage and then signs the document. Councillor Charles Michel appears next to sign the document. Councillor Donald Tusk is the last to walk onto the stage and sign the document. Once they are all done signing the document, Speaker Firoux uses the gavel to hit a sound block on the podium.
"The 2020 Manifesto have hereby been adopted."
The audience goes wild and applauds. The Councillors all then exit the stage and Taraji reappears to take her place behind the podium.
"Now, please give a warm welcome to our next mega-hit, relevant and very famous performers: AJR!"
AJR perform their song 'Let the Games Begin.'
"An amazing performance! Thank you AJR. Before the EPA nominates its candidate for Premier Commissioner, I shall invite someone very special to the stage. He currently serves as the Commissioner of Foreign Affairs, where he has rebuilt and breathed new life into the department. In Europolis, he is known affectionately as the Foreign Affairs Zaddy. Please join me in welcoming Commissioner Antoni Reynels!"
The audience goes wild and several placards can be seen in the crowd, most of which have interesting phrases on them, such as 'Commissioner of Zaddy Affairs', or 'Twinks 4 Antoni', and even one which has 'Antoni, will you marry me?' written on it. Antoni and Taraji share quick kisses on the cheek, before Antoni then positions himself behind the podium and Taraji exits the stage.
"Thank you all for such a gracious welcome. As always, I am happy to be in Europolis, but I am especially happy to be with you: the European people."
"I have dedicated my entire adult life to public service. Within my career in the Inquistan diplomatic service, I had the honour of serving 4 years as the Inquistan Consul General in Verington, the Duxburian Union, and then starting in 2013, I spent 7 years as the High Commissioner of Inquista to Icholasen. At the time, I thought I had already given myself fully to the cause of public service. I had no idea what the demands or calls of elected office would entail. I thought it would simply be the next step in dedicating myself and my abilities to the people that I serve. In many ways, this has been true. However, it has been a transformative and extraordinary experience that has been far, far greater than what I could have imagined."
"Serving as a European Commissioner has been one of the greatest honours imaginable. In part, not only because I get to serve all of the European Union, and all its diverse peoples, but also because my job has directly brought me to all of you. I have traveled all over Europe, met so many inspiring people, and have connected with so many of my fellow European brothers and sisters. I have never felt such a sense of community, home and of belonging as I have while I have worked as the Commissioner of Foreign Affairs. I am proud to serve such a diverse, beautiful and united Union of so many amazing states, and I am proud to act as a representative of all European people."
"I have learned so much, particularly from my colleagues, Commissioner Juncker and Premier Whiteford. From Commissioner Juncker, I have learned to remain resolute and optimistic. To never give up and to keep trying. Commissioner Juncker is unyielding in all his ambitions, and keeps pushing until he reaches the top of every mountain peak. He also taught me to be a better listener, and to be inclusive of all voices. Commissioner Juncker has opened his door to every European Union member state, made himself available to their calls, and has made himself a readily available mediator. He hosted a historic summit of all the leaders of the European Union, where he gave them all an equal opportunity to have their voices heard. He's traveled across Europe, mediated discussions in Leagio and Eastern Haane - the latter of which, he helped prevent a civil war from erupting. He is kind and compassionate, and he is a proud servant of the European people, and proud patriot of the European Union. I am not at all surprised that Commissioner Juncker submitted the legislation to create Europe Day, because under his tenure as Commissioner, it is Europe Day every day."
"I have the tremendous privilege of calling Premier Whiteford a close friend of mine. We have worked closely together ever since I was first stationed in Icholasen as the High Commissioner of Inquista back in 2013. We have broken bread many times, had many dinners together, enjoyed many good laughs, shared tears, a fair share of disagreements, and best of all: made real progress in bettering the lives of the European people."
"While we already had a close working relationship as High Commissioner and as Korojaunu, our working relationship as European Commissioners has brought us even closer than ever before. I cannot even begin to list the valuable lessons that the Premier has taught me. She has been a mentor of mine, and in many ways, like a big sister. However, I realised I am not unique in this regard. The Premier is a fountain of compassion, empathy and understanding. Whoever she meets and comes into contact with, immediately gets captured by her warm and caring presence. I understand now, better than ever, why the Premier has continued to inspire all those around her as a leader, even in the most difficult of times. She's real, she's authentic, and she's genuine in her dedication to making a real difference wherever she goes."
"It is no secret that the Premier has gone through the absolute highs and lows you can go through not in just politics, but also in life. Overthrown in her own country, and forced into exile by a coup, the Premier has continued to move forward with resolve. She's tenacious and she's unshakable. This did not stop her from leading, and she turned the tragedy of the situation into an opportunity, to once again lead as the Premier of the European Union. It has been the sole greatest experience of my life to work alongside her, and to watch her lead with such strong resolve and optimism, despite the fact that she could easily be defeated by the tragedy unfolding in Icholasen. The Premier's hope is mighty and unstoppable, as is her dedication to her people, and to the European people."
"When the European Progressive Alliance nominates its next candidate for Premier Commissioner, they will indeed have huge shoes to fill. Should they be elected, I will work tirelessly to ensure that the legacy built by Premier Whiteford lives on. Together with Commissioner Juncker, the next Premier Commissioner and I will honour her and her contributions to the European Union. Thank you."
The audience stand in ovation. They cheer and shout with great enthusiasm as Commissioner Reynels leaves the stage and Taraji re-emerges.
"Wow. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much Commissioner Reynels for that message. With all of that in mind, it's time for our esteemed members of the EPA to nominate the EPA's candidate for Premier Commissioner."
The crowd erupts in thundering applause.
"The delegations will vote in alphabetically, right after one another. We shall begin by calling the delegation from Fremet to nominate their candidate."
The Fremetian delegation, led by Councillor Charles Michel and a plethora of Fremetian fishermen behind him, take to the stage. Councillor Michel steps up to microphone and simply mutters 'pass'. The audience seems confused, but clap nonetheless.
The Nicoleizian delegation then comes to the stage, led by Councillor Poppy Carlton-Romanov. The Nicoleizian Councillor is surrounded by various butch-looking onion farmers. Councillor Carlton-Romanov casts her nomination vote for Lady Angela Merkel of Fremet. The crowd stands in applause.
The delegation from Inquista enters the stage, with Speaker Firoux leading the pack. Speaker Firoux is flanked by factory workers, who are all wearing overalls. On their overalls, the workers all bear insignias of different luxury car manufacturers that they work for. The Speaker casts his nomination vote for Lady Angela Merkel of Fremet.
Montenbourg is up next, represented by Councillor Emma Granger. Councillor Granger leads a pack of many young girls, who are all wearing shirts that have '#GirlBoss' written on them. Councillor Granger delivers her nomination vote to Lady Angela Merkel of Fremet as well.
The Spanish delegation walks onto the stage next. Councillor Donald Tusk leads the delegation of various Spanish chefs, who have all for some reason brought plates of different Spanish dishes onto the stage. Councillor Tusk casts his nomination vote for Lady Angela Merkel of Fremet.
The delegation from Vayinoad then swarms the stage, led by Councillor Carita Falk. Councillor Falk is followed by various well-known environmental activists, who are all holding up placards with messages about saving the environment. Councillor Falk delivers her nomination vote for Lady Angela Merkel of Fremet.
The crowd cheers as the delegation of Fremet once again returns to the stage. This time Councillor Michel delivers his nomination vote, which he does for Lady Angela Merkel. The crowd then goes wild.
Confetti and balloons fall from the ceiling as Lady Merkel is then invited to the stage to deliver her acceptance speech. The audience stands in ovation and cheers her on. WAP by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion plays out loud.
-
Convention intro montage plays.
A loud sea of cheers and applause erupt from the audience as Anna Chlumsky appears on the stage. Anna laughs and waves at the audience, and carefully walks over to the podium.
"Hello, Europe. Welcome to the last day of this most historic convention!"
Members of the audience clap loudly and enthusiastically.
"My name is Anna Chlumsky and I will be hosting today's convention. We've had a very busy few days. The EPA has nominated a great group of candidates to the European Commission. I can't think of anyone more qualified or suited for those offices than Commissioner Jean Claude Juncker and Lady Angela Merkel."
Audience members cheer and chant Juncker and Merkel's names.
"The EPA has also signed a brand new manifesto, which is more progressive and forward-thinking than any other eurogroup manifesto that's ever been presented before!"
The audience clap and cheer in agreement.
"There is a common thread throughout the history of the European Union. Whenever the EPA leads, there is progress. Whenever the EPA leads, there are results. Whenever the EPA leads, there is a clear path forward. It is no coincidence that virtually all major reforms made in the European Union in recent years have been under the leadership of EPA Premiers and EPA Commissioners."
"Whether it's Premiers like Eilidh Whiteford, or Anja Emerett, or Commissioners like Jean Claude Juncker or Antoni Reynels, our European institutions are most active and productive under EPA leadership, and there are real, tangible results achieved through their blood, sweat and tears. EPA Premiers and Commissioners deliver real and concrete results because they have a true and genuine love for the European Union. The EPA understands the importance of our institutions and of our Union, and that's what drives us to succeed. "
"There is no eurogroup more proud to be European than the EPA. We're proud of the European community that our countries have shared in together, and we're proud of how far we have come as a region. We're proud to be European, because we find something to celebrate and love in each member state. Each and every member state brings something to the table. Each and every member state has something to contribute. That's why when all our countries come together, our Union is stronger than ever. The EPA knows this, and the EPA seeks to harness this. You cannot love the European Union without loving each and every member state, and that is why our Premiers and Commissioners have been so strong; because they've always fought for the collective community as a whole, and they do so leaving nobody behind."
A thundering applause emits from the audience.
"Nowhere is the more evident than in the European Council. More legislation has been passed in 2020 than in any other year in European history. Not only has most of this legislation been penned by EPA Councillors, but virtually no bill has passed the Council without the golden touch of EPA members, whether it's through amendments, their contributions, or their advocacy. In 2020, the EPA has undoubtedly not only made legislative history, but their leadership in the Council has made real and meaningful changes in Europe."
"At the forefront of this progress is Speaker Edward Firoux."
Members of the audience cheer and begin chanting Firoux's name.
"The Speaker has not only overseen this unprecedented time of rapid Council activity, but he has made his mark as its most active contributor and legislator. Time and time again, the Speaker has not only attributed success in the European Council to his fellow colleagues in the EPA, but also to his fellow colleagues of all political stripes in the Council. It is not without bipartisan support and effort, that change and progress could be possible."
"Before I introduce the Speaker to come onto the stage, I would like to invite you all to a very special performance. Please give a warm welcome to David Bisbal!"
David Bisbal performs his song 'Fiebre'.
"Thank you David Bisbal for that amazing performance! Whenever I see our next guest speaker on a stage, I swear my ovaries also have a little bit of a fiebre. Ladies, gents, and nonbinary friends, please give a warm welcome to the Chairperson of the EPA and Speaker of the European Council... Speaker Edward Firoux!"
Speaker Firoux and Anna share two quick kisses on the cheeks as Speaker Firoux enters onto the stage. The Speaker then takes his place behind the podium as Anna exits the stage. Members of the audience holler, whistle and shout Firoux's name.
"Thank you everyone! Thank you, thank you. It's great to be here... again, for a third day in a row."
Speaker Firoux laughs along with members of the audience.
"The EPA could not do what we do without your support, and it's because of you, that we do our jobs. Our jobs as councillors is to represent our people, and it's in service to you that we wake up early every morning to attend our Council meetings, and then stay up late in the chamber, discussing and debating minute amendments and details. So, again, thank you."
"Not only are we bound, as councillors, to service of our people, but we are also bound to the service of Europe. We all inhabit one continent. We share one global environment. We share common borders. Our economies that are intertwined and depend on one another. We share bonds between families and between blood. We share bonds between faiths. We share bonds between languages and cultures. What happens in one country often has deep ripple effects on others. That's why it's important that we chart a future forward together."
"That's why the EPA exists. At our core, we are a collection of like-minded partisans. We use our collective political bargaining to make change across Europe. Just like our Union, which is only strong when our countries come together, we as a eurogroup are only strong when we come together as councillors. I would not be able to advocate as successfully on behalf of Inquistans, for change for Inquistans, without the support of other councillors, who represent their own countries. We truly do depend on one another."
"One thing that makes the EPA unique is that we are like a family. Councillors Carlton-Romanov, Falk and Granger are like my sisters, and Councillors Michel and Tusk are like my brothers. We don't always see eye-to-eye, and we have disagreements from time to time, but at the end of the day, we are always bound together like blood. We can depend on each other for anything, and we know no matter what happens, we will always have each other's backs when it counts. We all want what is the best for our countries, and we all want what is best for Europe. I truly could not do what I do without them, and I am so thankful for them."
Members of the audience clap and cheer.
"It has been a privilege to lead the EPA as its Chairperson. As I said, we are like a family. I have my full faith placed in them, and they have their full faith placed in me. That's why I am delighted to announce that they have elected me to continue my work as Chairperson for another term."
Members of the audience stand in ovation and clap loudly.
"It is a duty which I have always accepted with extreme seriousness, and it is a duty I will continue to carry with great earnestness. As per the new manifesto of the EPA, I will now officially appoint my fellow colleagues in the EPA to certain portfolios, which they must manage within the European Council. These portfolios are areas in which they are expected to be our loudest and most knowledgeable advocates."
"I hereby appoint Councillor Carlton-Romanov as European Councillor for Human and Civil Rights."
Member of the audience cheer as Councillor Carlton-Romanov takes to the stage. Small Free Nicoleizian flags can be seen waving in the audience.
"I hereby appoint Councillor Falk as European Councillor for the Environment, Oceans, and Fisheries."
Councillor Falk walks onto the stage and joins her colleagues.
"I hereby appoint Councillor Granger as European Councillor for Health, Science, Innovation, and Technology."
Councillor Granger joins her colleagues on the stage and waves to the audience.
"I hereby appoint Councillor Michel as European Councillor for Economic Affairs and Infrastructure."
The Fremetian Councillor marches onto the stage with his famous, beaming smile.
"I hereby appoint Councillor Tusk as European Councillor for European Crisis Management."
Councillor Tusk joins the rest on the stage, and shakes the hands of his colleagues.
"This is your EPA caucus," Firoux announces.
Members of the audience stand in ovation and clap. A graphic supersedes onto the screen and then disappears after a short while.
Anna is suddenly back at the podium, with Speaker Firoux still by her side.
"The Speaker will continue to deliver his remarks before he introduces you to our most esteemed Premier, Eilidh Whiteford. But before we get to that, we let's have a musical celebration. Please put your hands together for a mega - but not that kind of MEGA - superstar and massive EV icon, Josie Dunne.
Josie Dunne performs her song 'Ooh La La'.
After Josie Dunne finishes performing, the screen returns to Speaker Firoux, who is now alone behind the podium.
"Thank you Josie Dunne, very cool."
"While this is a time of celebration, I also have some heavy, but hopeful news. As I accept my role as Chairperson of the EPA, I do so for the very last time."
Members of the audience gasp and some audibly shout out 'No!'
"When my Speakership terms ends in March of 2021, I will be not be looking for re-election. I will be stepping down as the Chairperson of the EPA, and I will be stepping down as Inquista's Councillor to the European Union."
A very somber tone of murmurs and whispers echo from the audience.
"As I said, this is also some hopeful news. It's time that the torch of progress is handed to a new generation of leaders. Back in 2013, I entered the European Council as a young, optimistic and energetic force for change and justice. In 2021, Inquista and the European Council deserve someone who is just as energized and passionate as I was when I entered the Council chamber for the first time. I have no doubt whoever succeeds me will be far greater than me. When I entered the Council, I benefited greatly by standing on the shoulders of the titans who came before me, and likewise, I will return the favour by helping uplift a new generation of leaders to come."
"We still have much to accomplish until then. 7 months is a long time in European politics. This is not my good bye, or my political eulogy. During that time, I will serve one or two new Premiers, many other European Commissioners, and will welcome and say goodbye to many of my fellow councillors."
"During my seven year tenure as Councillor for Inquista, I have had the extraordinary pleasure and privilege of serving three great Premier Commissioners: Eilidh Whiteford, Anja Emerett and my dear wife, Gisela Stuart Firoux. Tonight, I have the special honour of introducing one of these fantastic women, who has once again stepped up as Premier Commissioner and proven why she's one of the greatest."
"Like many, I consider Premier Whiteford not just a close friend of mine, but also a sister. Anyone who has had the privilege of working with her will almost immediately feel bonded and connected to her, because she has a great sense of compassion and openness. She's a keen listener, with an empathetic ear, and she always finds a way to find common ground with anyone. The fact that Premier Whiteford has been able to build genuine, deep and personal bonds with virtually leader in Europolis - regardless of their political stripe or affiliation - speaks volumes as to how deeply she cares about people, and how she seeks to unite, include and amplify all voices."
"I met Premier Whiteford for the first time in 2015, when I was asked to join her campaign team as an advisor for her first Premier Commissioner election campaign. Serving under her leadership in the European Council, and as Council Speaker, has been extraordinary. It has been a real honour to serve her numerous times, as part of her campaign team again in 2016, and then during her second term now. Each time, the Premier has taken lengthy and intentional steps to listen to and collaborate with me, and has also challenged me, pushing me to do my best. Each time that I have served her, she has bettered me, guided me, mentored me, and she has elevated me, allowing me to have my voice heard, and giving me ground to stand on. In this way, Premier Whiteford is everything in a leader you can ask for: she inspires you, she uplifts you, and she allows you to speak with your authentic voice."
"These are rare qualities you can only find in the most good, loving and caring of individuals. Among these good people, Premier Whiteford stands out as a true giant. Her morals, her goodness and her duty to her people are unbending. Even despite the most recent events in Icholasen, the Premier Commissioner could not be defeated. She has immense resolve, and she has refused to bend. The Premier Commissioner has risen to the occasion, as she does in every crisis, and took to lead Europe through one of its most tumultuous times. Despite the extremely rocky political events of 2020, Premier Whiteford has created stability, unity and order. Through her empathetic ear, open heart, and gentle soul, the Premier has been able to unite Europe together in peaceful solidarity, and has charted the region forward."
"Each time that the Premier Commissioner has led the European Union, Europolis has either passed tremendous reforms, or has made history in terms of legislation. In her first term, Premier Whiteford oversaw the eurogroup reforms which replaced europarties, and set the stage for Anja Emerett to reform the European Commission. Now, in her second term, the Premier holds the record for the most legislation passed in the European Council during a single Premiership term, with seven different bills passed - not to mention several amendments to existing pieces of legislation, and even a constitutional amendment to our election process."
"She has also always overseen a very busy, active and productive European Commission. With someone as open-minded and people-driven as Premier Whiteford, it's unsurprising that we're finding Commissioner Juncker zipping across Europe, meeting leaders, and even hosting historic pan-European summits. Likewise, Commissioner Reynels, who is making inroads, new allies, and creating strong bonds across the globe, finds no one more inspiring and true to his own mission than the Premier Commissioner."
"She's a strong, determined and fierce woman. She's unyielding and stalwart in her beliefs. She's loving, empathetic and kind. She's genuine, trustworthy and responsible. She's a listener, a leader and a sister. And yes, she's still that bitch. She's our Premier Commissioner. Please give a warm welcome to Premier Eilidh Whiteford!"
The audience goes absolutely wild as the Whitefordcore anthem Still That Bitch plays. Members of the audience wave placards that have '#StillThatBitch' written on them.
-
'Hello Europe!!!' Whiteford shouted. 'I am still that bitch! I would like to thank Firoux, Reynels, and everyone who has been a part in making this convention so great for this convention. What a time it has been. With the musical stylings of so many people I had only heard of one or two times before this week, but who left a lasting image on my music taste. I think back to the long legacy of the EPA in Icholasen. From my Commission runs in 2015 and 2016, to Poppy Carlton-Romanov who has represented Icholasen on the European Stage since 2014 - just one year after Firoux ! It is that intense, spiritual connection that Icholasen has with the EPA that has helped us so much in the current 2020 crisis. This year could only get worse if there was a plague on a Biblical scale that would imply that God is very angry. I'm glad we don't have that at least.I reflect on these last 6 years of the EPA's connection with Icholasen and I can happily say I would not change a thing. Meeting my brothers Firoux, Reynels and of course others, has been amazing. I don't know what I would do without their friendship, their support, their encouragement and their goodwill. The EPA really is a family, and one that I am happy is egalitarian. I am so so happy that we are not a front for a European takeover by just one nation. We all have an equal say.
I am proud of how progressive our administrations have been over the last few years, and how pro-EU they have been. Progressive because we have supported a gradual inclusion of rights for different groups in our constitution, supported a guarantee of marriage for all people (even the Catholics) the support for the legalisation of marijuana, which sees disproportionately low income people incarcerated for no reason. The Ocean Protection Act, the Accountable Council, and so many many more. This is why I am so proud of the EPA and all we have achieved, but also of our cooperation with other Councillors. Notably Councillor Kent of Malborya.
I am of course sad that Firoux will no longer be in the Council, but that is okay. Firoux, you have done it again. Constantly raising the bar for us all. And doing it flawlessly. I'd say I'm surprised but I know who you are. I've seen it up close and personal. Firoux, you make me so proud and I love you. We will live it up in Ibiza as soon as you leave office. He has had a very busy job these past few months as there has been so much activity and so I am so proud of him.
You know folks, it has been an honour to serve in the highest position in the EU. Twice ! We really are a blessed and righteous Eurogroup. I denounce anyone who says that the EPA is 'too powerful' we are but a plurality, not a majority. We can encourage and push for our goals, but we cannot force the EU to do anything. Despite this, we have used the power that we do hold to push forward progressive legislation that is both pro-EU, but not looney Eurofederalist garbage. We have straddled a noble line. A famous Davishirian politician said; 'Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by the traffic from both sides.' But I don't agree at all. By going too far to the Eurofederalist side means you are in the gutter of the road. By going to far to the anti-EU side, you are also in the gutter. The EPA stands firm in the middle, getting the best of both.
To finish off I'd just like to thank everyone who made this convention possible. What an amazing spectacle. God bless you all, God bless the European Union!!
