Reception
The Spanish Royal Family arrived to the Hotel where, every year, receives the awarded people. The King Felipe VI arrived with Queen Leticia, and the Princesa de Asturias, Leonor, arrived with Princess Sofía. The 4 Royals went to where they were supposed to be located at according to the protocol, and started to chat while the winners arrived. Sadly, no one from Gallorum could attend, so they would send the prize to the Royal Festival of European Arts & Culture.
Suddenly, the person in charge of introducing the winners arrived. One by one, he mentioned the names and surnames of the awarded people, enterprises, ONGs or the Leagioan Football Association. As always, the awarded shook hands with the King, the Queen, the Princess of Asturias and Princess Sofía. Once everyone was ready, a photo was taken where both the awarded people and the Royal Family appeared.
Then, it was time for lunch, where the Spanish high-offices from the Executive, Legistalive and Judiciary powers joined the celebration. Lunch was served.

Ceremony
The Ceremony started, and the bagpipers started to play the Spanish Anthem with the bagpipes. After that, the staff placed the chairs where the illustrious honorees will seat. A violin music started to play and one by one, when their name was mentioned, entered the room while the authorities, the Monarchs and the assistants clapped standing up. The honorees made a reverence to the Monarchs and to Queen Sofía, who also attended the ceremony as usual. Everyone seated on their seat and the ceremony started.
Luis Fernández-Vega, the President of the Princesa de Asturias Foundation, was given the floor and approached to the lectern. He started his speech:
"Your Majesties, Royal Highnesses, Honourees, Institution leaders. It is an honour to me to be here another year, in Oviedo, in the 39th Edition of these awards. Since October 1981, this Organization has been giving the Princesa de Asturias Awards, which at first were called Príncipe de Asturias Awards. 39 years laters, we are still accomplishing the function of recognising those who try their best for our world and the European Union.
I'm pleased with the Princess of Asturias, Leonor, who also is the Honour President of the foundation I lead, for being here for another year, as with Princess Sofía for her support and with Her Majesty the Queen Sofía, who since 1981 has been attending to this ceremony giving the foundation her whole support and aiding us in many goals we have achieved during the last decades.
I want to congratulate the illustrious honourees for this recognition, which means a lot to the Spanish Society and to me. You have all done what you believed to be the best for Europe, for our World, and you'll never surrender on your attitudes, aims and challenges during your life. I hope that you'll be delighted with this ceremony and with your stay in Oviedo, and again, we are very happy to see you here with us. Thank you"
Everyone applauded the speech and the ceremony started. The first award given was the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts, who was awarded to the The Royal Festival of European Arts & Culture, from the Kingdom of Gallorum. As no representative could attend, the award had been sent to the President of the Festival, who recorded a speech. the speech was played and everyone applauded seated.
"And now, because of her great implication with her job and despite suffering the rise of a Communist regime in her country and having to scape from it, she carried on, the winner of the Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities is Stephanie DeVey"
The Princess of Asturias stood up, shook hands with the honouree and gave Stephanie a diplomma rolled up with a lariat with the Spanish and Asturian flags. DeVey was applauded by the assistants to the ceremony and was given the floor.

‘Thank you so so much. I’m so happy to accept this award. Spain is a great country and I’m so glad to be awarded by it and it’s monarchy. As a politically neutral person, even I have to recognise the fortitude and wisdom of Spain’s royal family - beyond what they represent politically.
European politics is wild and I was happy to host our debate. It was one of the honours of my career to have the opportunity to host the debate. I hope that I gave the European people the chance to make their minds up more efficiently than previous debates by the way I lead it.
Thank you so much and adios !’

The audience applauded Stephanie DeVey, along with the Royal Family and the Spanish Political and Judiciary society. The woman off-voice spoke again:
Because of their efforts in enhancing co-operation between the nations around Europe, and their great labour in the European Commission, the Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation is awarded to Jean-Claude Juncker, Internal Affairs Commissioner from Spain and the European Union, represented by the Premier Commissioner, Angela Merkel, from @Fremet, and Antoni Reynels, from @Inquista.
They approached to the Princess of Asturias who gave the Premier Commissioner, The Internal Affairs Commissioner and the External Affairs Commissioner 3 diplommas rolled up with the lariat as the one described before. The 3 decided to celebrate their award like Juncker did, and also did Stephanie.
Juncker then was given the floor to speak, and for the first time in the gala, he spoke in Spanish:
"Your Majesties, Royal Highnesses, Honourees, Institution leaders. I can talk on behalf of us 3 when I say that receiving this award not only for me but for the European Union is an honour. Today I'm very happy of accepting this very important award for me and for the European Union, an Institution such as many others which is trying its best to solve the problems that appear in our region, in our loved Europe.
Angela, Antoni and myself make a great team, and it's an honour to work along with them. During this 5 months as Commissioner, I have learnt a lot about our region, but also I've met wonderful persons like my friends and my Commission mates during these 2 terms. And I hope that you can all join us next Monday on Europolis to celebrate the first-ever Europe Day, which is not my achievement, but the Commission team achievement. When we do something, we do it together, and that is one of the values of the European Union and this award has the word on it: Co-Operation.
Thank you very much for this recognisement, I'm really happy."
The floor was then given to Antoni Reynels, and when he would be finished, it would be given to Angela Merkel.

"I'd like to thank your Majesties, Royal Highnesses, and the esteemed members of the Princesa de Asturias Foundation who have bestowed this honour upon the European Union. During tumultuous times like these, the European Union has made tremendous strides in fostering international cooperation across Europe, overcoming our divides and building a common community that is more harmonious, collaborative and united.
It is special to receive this award just three days before the European Union celebrate its first Europe Day. The European Commission, which includes my dear friends Premier Merkel and Commissioner Juncker, has been working tirelessly to serve the European people, and to advance the European Union's values of peace, democracy and human rights. We thank you for recognising our work and our value, and we thank you, the Royal Household, and the Kingdom of Spain, for being an integral part of our success.
Thank you so much!"
