BUDGET OF THE EUROPEAN UNION FOR 2022 - 2023
-
In spirit of the ESA Report that's been ignored by the current administration on budget needs and clearly ignored by all in power I propose the following ammendment:European Space Administration:
1,496,400,000.00€10,000,000,000€This would allow it actually do something useful for all in launching with space agencies around Europe a satellite network of an initial 30 satellites for GPS, Communications and Climate monitoring functions to benefit all Europeans achieving a project difficult to achieve on a nations scale alone. After all the common good and coming together to achieve more together than one could alone is the European ideal right? You wouldn't want to contribute in keeping the EU irrelevant by underfunding agencies that can do good would you?
James Mizrachi-Roscoe, Councillor for United Duchies
-
Cllr. Mizrachi-Roscoe, the purpose of the ESA, in my opinion, should not be to clutter the sky with redundant satellites. The infrastructure for what you have mentioned is already in place; there is no need for new systems, merely for more integration. I am in favor of the increase proposed by the esteemed Premier Commissioner, which allows the organization to undertake new, beneficial research as well as to coordinate existing space programs, while being conservative enough to avoid truly wasteful spending.
I am extending debate to 23:59 GMT on 10 December 2022.
Iras Tilkanas
Council Speaker and Councillor for the Republic of Istkalen -
Yes we have GPS but we have no redundancy or competition also there is currently no comprehensive climate monitoring satellite system and public owned alternative to the Starlink system for satellite internet . These functions would surely benefit the whole of the EU's population and are only possibly with a significant boost in funding to the 10's of billions a year and would benefit living standards and economic prosperity of all.

Cllr. Mizrachi-Roscoe, I have already made my views on the ESA very clear, and it has nothing to do with the mischaracterization you've attempted to pull off. I have no idea who you're even quoting with those quotation marks.
From what it sounds like, you support giving billions of subsidies to private companies, such SpaceX, who have not provided any return on investment to the European people besides lining their own pockets. I am not surprised to see a capitalist support the bourgeoisie effort to defraud the working people of Europe, who must continue to suffer under the stranglehold of the European elite, while the European Council senselessly spends the money from their labour with no real attempt to provide justice and liberation.
I shall always put the working people first, and so should the European budget. That's all I will say on the matter.
Bp. Karinn Lallana
Councillor for Inquista -
I do not believe in money going primarily to private companies in the space industry. However if you underfund ESA and let private for profit enterprises be the only providers of internet or ones owning big GPS or internet satelites you will by default be supporting them. I am for a properly funded ESA that leverages its budget to compete with private industry in this sector to provide competition and to offer options in the public interest. If you don't give ESA the budget it needs for its internet satelite proposals and for GPS and climate monitoring satellite constellations the reality is that we will increase dependence on private owned and funded industry for this purpose. I want the money to go to expert publicly funded space agencies and directly to ESA so they can hire experts to work in joint European space interests and make the EU invaluable to nations in the Union.
James Mizrachi-Roscoe, Councillor for United Duchies

I fully back the proposal made by Karinn and her arguments. Perhaps if there is a large opposition to such decrease, as the words of Iras and Councillor Mizrachi-Roscoe suggest, the Premier Commissioner could propose a compromise?
