ARTICLE V. THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS

Section XXIII. Right to Marriage and Divorce

I. Everyone has the right to marry or be in a marriage in accordance with the law without distinction as to their sex or sexual orientation.
II. Everyone has the right to divorce in accordance with the law without distinction as to their sex or sexual orientation.

Dear Councillors,

In first place, I would like to thank the European people for choosing me to represent them as their Premier Commissioner. For me, it is a huge honour and priviledge to serve them, and I will do my best to fulfil the expectations that "my bosses" have put on me. I would also like to introduce myself to this Council, which I expect to visit more than once, as my priority still remains to help the Europeans and their representatives in this Chamber. For those that still do not know me, I am Corinna Larsen, and it is nice to finally meet you all phisically. I hope that we can intimate during my term as Premier Commissioner.

Councillors, introductions aside, I am bringing an amendment to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, also known as UDoHR. One of my platforms for the past elections was introducing the Right to Divorce in the European Constitution, more specifically, in the mentioned Article of the Constitution. It caught my attention while getting to know the system of the European Union, a few years ago, in my private and really fancy -you ought to come and visit, we can have some cookies together and chat about life- residence, that our Constitution included the Right to Marriage, which I deeply support for everyone -and let me take this chance to give a warm hug to all LGTBIQA+ people out there that have recently celebrated Pride Month in June-; but it did not have the Right to Divorce, a right that, I must confess, I have used. This incongruency should, in my opinion, be fixed, and it is now in your hands.

I hope to find support in this Council and that we, together, are able to deliver for the good people of Europe. Thank you very much sweethearts, and if you ever need anything, and I mean anything, my office is open for you all.

Corinna Larsen
Premier Commissioner
