EUROPEAN COMMISSION ELECTIONS
NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES
It is time for elections to the next European Commission. In these elections, two offices - Premier Commissioner and Internal Affairs - will be up for election.
The offices of Premier Commissioner and Internal Affairs are subject to a four-month term.
Due to term limits, candidates from Icholasen may not stand in these elections.
As is traditional, I shall quote the words of our Returning Officer back in January 2011, who opened these nominations thus:
"These elections are supposed to give our member-states fair representation in this region - if candidates cannot take it upon themselves to be active, then I in particular, question their ability and willingness to take part in a body who must be active, accountable and able. I do not wish to threaten nor scare, but I want, for once, our European Commission to consist of Commissioners who are active and who play a part in the region both on and off this forum."
Interested candidates should fill out all information below:

Candidate name: Katrin Weber
Home Nation: Confederation of Eastern Haane
Office sought: Internal Affairs Commissioner
Incumbent? (Y/N): N
Eurogroup Affiliation: None
Biography: Katrin Weber was born under the capitalist dictatorship of 1972-1996, becoming, even in her youth, a major voice for the movement for the reestablishment of democracy. By the age of 14, she had become the head of the youth wing of the democracy movement in all of Eastern Haane. She served as a representative for her home canton of Kiel in the 1996 peace deliberations at the age of 20.In 1996, she began to attend the University of Kiel, previously having been delayed by the near war-like situation of the 1990-1996 period. She would continue to study for the next 12 years along her activism, eventually earning a Ph.D in Sociology.
She was the unofficial head of the revolution of 2001, which exiled the former dictators of 1980-1996. In the revolution of 2005, which resulted in a massive decentralization of political power and the resignation of the Supreme Councillor and Consul of the time, she played an important role in coordinating the nascent workers' councils in both their protest and governance. In 2008, she stood with ethnic groups protesting for recognition and autonomy. In 2013, during a major famine, she coordinated aid efforts when the government refused to, distributing remaining food, as well as medication for such diseases as cholera, to survivors, at the same time working herself on volunteer brigades that helped repair infrastructure.
All of these actions, combined with a campaign that focused on compassion and solidarity, helped her win the Consulship in 2014. As Consul, she acted as a neutral arbiter between the state owned worker and employer unions, breaking an awful tradition of siding with employees.
At the same time, she greatly liberalized, through decree, independent trade unions, establishing an important role for them in the economy in a new 'social partnership.'
She also expanded the use of referendums and initiatives, allowing any petition sent to her that reached 125,000 signatures to go to vote, at the same time holding binding referendums on every single one of her decrees.
She was a major role in instituting a minimum income as well as the expansion of sex education and the availability of abortion and birth control, at the same time improving access to health care by nationalizing hospitals and clinics and making them open to all, bringing down medicine prices through negotiations and price controls.

Candidate Name: Dragan Trympov
Home Nation: Pravoslaviya
Office(s) sought: Premier Commissioner
Incumbent? (Y/N): N
Eurogroup Affiliation: N/A
Biography:Dragan Trympov is the very definition of the European success story, setting the standards of excellence in his business endeavours, and now in Pravoslaviyan and European politics.
A self-made billionaire, Trympov inherited just a few million Pravoslaviyan dinars and a modest property portfolio from his father, Fridrik Trympov, who had entered the world of business after the fall of Communism in 1989. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, Trympov created an empire of skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, golf courses, steaks, board games, and vodka – and much, much more. In the late 2000s, Trympov – already a byword for business success in Pravoslaviya – became even more of a household name as the host of the Pravoslaviyan edition of phenomenally successful TV show The Apprentice.
Most recently, disgusted at the corruption at the heart of the Pravoslaviyan political system under former Prime Minister 'Retard' Apostol Tsrvenovski, Trympov entered politics as leader of the League Against Corruption. He tore up the political rule book and took his message directly to the people, and in 2016 became Pravoslaviya's Deputy Prime Minister, in coalition with Prime Minister Metodi Pravoslav. During his time in office, Trympov has kept his promises to defend Pravoslaviya's borders against illegal immigration, speak out against fake news, and denounce the crimes of Europe's corrupt globalist elite.
In 2020, Dragan Trympov took his movement Europe-wide. Campaiging to drain the swamp in Europolis, stop the coups and Make Europe Safe Again, and standing up to Communism and globalism, he went from nowhere to over 30% of the vote in just three weeks, against the full weight of the globalist machine. Now, he is continuing his fight to Make Europe Great Again!
