Repeal of the Condemnation of the Coup in Icholasen
-
I, in principle, support this motion proposed by the Councilor on the grounds that the European Council has not established a clear path towards the reintegration of the UNSR. It is becoming increasingly non-sensical to see the government in exile as an actual government and the willingness for member-states pretending the UNSR has not established legitimacy on the island is becoming silly. The UNSR has, from what I can tell, has domestically stabilized and the prospects for any other regime to arise is miniscule at best for the time being. The EU's hopes for establishing the old Regime in Icholasen has now becoming a fairy tale, unless they are willing to engage in a war of regime change.
I understand that the European Council has moral disgust towards regime changes by military coup d'etats, which is an understandable impulse. I personally am disgusted by it too, Councilors. Furthermore I would understand if many nations in Europe would take to sanctioning the UNSR. However, the UNSR has demonstrated while their democracy is surely flawed and many problems exist within it, the current regime has proved at least some willingness to make the country participatory in its decision-making. While I rarely hear this argument being made vocally, the notion that the UNSR is undemocratic I feel is an unfair standard when their quality of democracy is comparable to other member states in the EU. To me, it comes off as a bad-faith criticism from this chamber when history has shown us that isolating a state from the rest of the international community often encourages authoritarianism in the isolated country while discrediting any moderating forces.
Councilors, instead of treating the UNSR as a boogyman that is to be feared by us, let's replace this condemnation with a roadmap to reintegrate the UNSR-- a plan to peacefully reintegrate them into the European community, instead of the ineffective jousting that we see from the likes of Premier Commissioner Cocx and certain other members of this chamber. It is important that we validate the moderate voices, the reformists, and the cool heads of the UNSR and the only way we can do this is offering a way out for the UNSR so they do not feel they have to be besieged. Our current policy towards the UNSR fails to do this. What I propose is not necessarily to repeal the condemnation of the UNSR, but to replace it with a more pragmatic and diplomatic framework on how the European Union should conduct policy towards the UNSR and as I said before, give the UNSR a chance to open up to the European Community. While I cannot guarantee the success of this project, none of what we are doing currently is making progress towards making a better Icholasen
And Councilors, I sincerely hope I do not have to explain why it would be a ehhh... less than fortunate idea to attempt a regime change war in the UNSR. Think well on this alternative.

EU Councilor, Ruthund -
The architects of fear have converted a wholesome law against conspiracy into an instrument for making association a crime. Pretending to fear government they have asked government to outlaw private protest. They glorify "togetherness" when it is theirs, and call it conspiracy when it is that of others.
Communism as I see it has no place in the European Union, and Europeans will not stand for its teachings. Calling for a Repeal is nonesense.
