Motion of ERF Deployment in Itskalen
-
Councilors, I would like to clarify that a committee from Reitzmag and Vayinaod are currently deciding on what would be done during the transition period for Istkalen. And I highly doubt that those who manage the transitional committee will allow any intervention from the European Union. However, they have informed me that they are open to allow the EU to observe the process and give suggestions.
But I myself do not think that it is necessary to deploy the ERF in Istkalen considering that Vardic and Reitzmic forces are already around the area in accordance with what the Istkalenian representatives had agreed to upon signing the Instrument of Surrender. Any intervention from the European Union without the consent of Reitzmag and Vayinaod who have given the largest efforts and contributions to ending the war and hostility from Istkalen shall not be welcomed. I know that the EU only wants to meddle with our policies and our conduct, but the EU has no right to tell us what to do for it had not even contributed a single thing to the war effort.
It shall be Reitzmag and Vayinaod that would collaborate on the transition of Istkalen to a progressive and developing state and not the EU who are only here to criticize and mess with our interests as a coalition.
Istkalen lost the war that it started out of its hostility and aggressiveness, and that hostility and aggressiveness is what Reitzmag and Vayinaod want to remove and why they shall be the ones to decide the fate of the country that had been a threat to their sovereignty and national security. Yes, they do deserve a second chance Mr. Tusk. As long as they will change under a joint supervision of Reitzmag and Vayinaod, then it is certain that Istkalen will once be a prosperous and successful state.
Yuridiana Yahontov
Interim Deputy Councilor, Kingdom of Reitzmag -
I would like to thank Reitzmag and Vayinaod for their swift action in securing Istkalen and stopping further bloodshed. That said we support this motion, I believe the best way forward to protect stabilty and stop resentment building towards Reitzmag and Vayinaod to the point they are seen as invaders is to have this multilateral ERF force take over for security and transition council with all major nations including Reitzmag and Vayinaod on it,. Only through European cooperation will the situation improve long term and we need to avoid another destabilising and dangerous situation in Istkalen for Istkalens and their neighbours sakes. I believe this motion would bring peace, stability and importantly a long term resolution to the current conflict and instability. Only a joint European force can ensure a peaceful and stable transition in Istkalen as history has shown in other interventions. I also believe we should as the EU give development aid to help not only rebuild but put Istkalen in a better place infrastructure wise than it was before to prevent future problems.

Councillor Yahontov, no one in Istkalen cares about your government. Not a single Istkalener will recognize it until it decides to cooperate with the legitimate government - or governments, depending on how one views it. It has not, and has instead decided to act on its own - without the consent of the People's Committees - not, of course, socialist government, but rather simple provisional councils taking over local governments - without that of the unions - to the rest of the Council, they can be seen more or less as professional associations, or perhaps even as guilds - and without, although perhaps mildly unnecessarily - the provisional Government of Istkalen, which will be replaced once actual elections to the producers' unions and to the eight state chambers, on which Istkalen has based its model of democracy for a long time.
Let me explain exactly what happened. The war was in effect one with little effect. Reitzmag occupied territory that the forces of non-democratic Istkalen evacuated, after which there was a coup, after which democracy began to be restored in the space of about a week; after some level of fighting a small area of the countryside, they advanced to the capital, where they inflicted some minor damage by firing into buildings, without any apparent reasoning as to the specific buildings they damaged. They erected fences around the cities and raised their own flags, which gave us a relatively high level of worry over what they would do, intensified by the fact that they had begun playing patriotic music across Istkalen mere hours before, raising their flags truly everywhere. I am repeating too much; you of course know the rest.
However, if this Council is of the belief that deployment of the ERF will halt potentially imperialist activities in Istkalen, and protect popular sovereignty, I am now in support of it.
Gertrude Echteran
Councillor for Istkalen -
Fellow councillors, the people of Itskalen have spoken; they need a United europe in this cause, let's act together against imperialist interest and prevent another Copalian situation.
I endorse the proposal of Spain for flag commissioner, let's vote aside on that. But let's unite in favor of this motion. Diplomacy is the way, not imposition.
Emma Granger
Councillor for Montenbourg -
Normally I would support motions for an intervention in trouble regions....But the issue I see is that from point of view that Istakalen started the fight by declaring war on everyone in the EU and only retracted it up to Ritzmag. Although, I personally have disagreements on how the current government in Hampton City handled the situation, I do not think that intervention will bring a unified Europe. I think that instead that the EU should send in observers to write a report on the transitional government where we can futherer determine the proper actions on it.
The problem I see mainly here is if a member-state gets attacked and wins the defensive war, will the EU then dictate what the peace should be for a loss of young soldiers that die and even the property that was damaged (although, from what I understand there hardly was much Ritzmag property damaged), then does that mean the member-state has no right in foreign diplomacy? And if so, then what is the point of being a sovereign nation at all? This does not help the problems in terms of reputation that the EU has at the moment in dealing with individuals who feel that the EU Commission and this Council have been slowly chipping away the rights that they have as sovereign state members and we are seeing it in Angleler. Now, this issue that I mention is an issue that is something that is the fault of one nation but multiple here.
Back to the motion, I do not think that the EU should have any say in the final look of peace over this one week war. With some of the claims that my fellow Councilor from Ritzmag stated feeling a bit unrealistic or even exagerated. But I go agree that Vaynoid and Ritzmag should handle the situation themselves. If it turns bad, then let it fall on to them and not the EU.
Francis Plessis
EU Councilor for Leagio -
I'm extending the debate until 27 April 2021 at 12h00 GMT.
Charles Michel
Council Speaker and Councilor for Fremet -
This motion would bring peace, stability and importantly a long term resolution to the current conflict and instability. Only a joint European force can ensure a peaceful and stable transition, we cannot put again Reitzmag to build another Copala City situation.
Emma Granger
Councillor for Montenbourg -
Ms. Granger, do you even understand what the J-TAI had said? They are independent of any government, including Reitzmag and Vayinaod. If we send the ERF to mess with them again, it would not help in the situation. Ms. Granger, the EU is not necessary in directly involving itself in the situation because the EU only did nothing but make things worst just like in Eastern Haane during Mr. Juncker's Commission.
Other than that, I would like to request for a debate extension on the matter.
Yuridiana Yahontov
Interim Deputy Councilor, Kingdom of Reitzmag -
Councillor Yahontov, we all know the incurrencies of your delegation in such matters. This is not Eastern Haane; we do not have Juncker's Comission. This Council is an active one that will push for democracy, not unilateralism. I repeat to the members of this council, fellow friends we cannot have another Copalian situation. We need to act together, and that includes you Councillor Yahontov; Reitzmag cannot act rogue.
Emma Granger
Councillor for Montenbourg -
Per the request of Councilor Yahontov, the debate will be extended until 3 May 2021 at 12h00 GMT.
Charles Michel
