For a time, it was the official stance of the Inquistan Orthodox Church to vehemently deny even the faintest possible existence of the UNSR. While Archbishop Mikaela Kligenberg has no ideological qualms allying herself with communists or socialists, as seen with her personal and diplomatic closeness to the Czechoslavonic President, her undying loyalty to one of her best friends, Queen Anastasia, led her to accept Firoux's radical stance of only recognizing the Nicoleizian government in exile. Despite this, the Archbishop had also pushed for a reconciliation of the various Nicoleizian governments, even hoping to bring some sort of unity agreement between socialist and democratic forces with the help of President Reiserová.

However, things have drastically changed over the last while. The officially non-existent UNSR split, with the north remaining as an increasingly more authoritarian UNSR, while the south emerged as a newfound democratic republic. While the Nicoleizian government in exile never returned to power, the south became the official beacon of Nicoleizian democracy. While the country split, both sides have officially recognized each other, effectively bringing legitimacy to both the UNSR and the newfound republic in the south.

Inquista now recognizes both Icholasens, and the Archbishop even more enthusiastically supports a reunification of the two countries under one banner. In her first official visit to the UNSR, the Archbishop is looking to normalize relations between Inquista and the UNSR, and to build goodwill to support reunification efforts.

The Archbishop's plane was now enroute to the UNSR, where she was eager to attend the Christmas soirée. As Christmas was by far the most dominant social, cultural and religious celebration in Inquista, the Archbishop didn't even think twice of why a communist state would be celebrating the festive occasion.

"Everyone loves Christmas, right? I mean, it's lovely time of year with the best atmosphere. The movies are great... especially those Hallmark ones! They're are all so unique, with those unpredictable endings that always get me, like who would of thought the city girl would go back to her small town and get back with her high school fling!? So cute!" Mikaela sighed sweetly as she turned to Captain Jimin, who was sitting beside her in the co-pilot seat of the cockpit.

The Archbishop had gotten bored of always sitting as a passenger in her private jet, and had started learning how to fly herself under the supervision of her beloved private pilot. 627 hours logged into Flight Simulator on Steam had really begun to pay dividends for the Archbishop, whose Twitch livestreams of her Flight Simulator let's plays even led to Beyonce completely copying her entire gaming fit, including the pink headset THAT SHE WORE FIRST (as stated by Mikaela's cease and desist letter to Jay-Z).

"You know that Bina has been in a few films like that? I've watched all of her movies, they're SO good. Ugh, it's no wonder her people love her, she is T-A-L-E-N-T-E-D", the Archbishop emphasized enthusiastically. "And the music! So good! My entire Spotify Wrapped is all Christmas music, and that's because I can't help but to begin listening to it starting in July. I feel so embarrassed because I never share my Wrapped with anybody, they don't get it."

The Archbishop turned to Captain Jimin and let go of the plane's control to continue her point, but the captain quickly freaked out and signaled to her to pay attention to her mission at hand.

Mikaela tried her best to make the descent to the airport, and after a rocky and shaky landing, managed to complete her first complete voyage as the primary pilot of her private jet.

"Nailed it, right?" Mikaela asked calmly while Captain Jimin flinched at her suggestion. "What? I asked calmly?" Mikaela asked calmly.

The Archbishop then pulled out hand mirror from a nearby cubby and examined herself as she repositioned her pastel pink santa hat. "I hope I came dressed properly for the occasion. It's Christmas themed, I think, or something. I don't know. The instructions weren't clear at all. I came dressed in costume just in case."

The Archbishop then got up and walked to a mirror that had been installed the plane's small lounge and began to admire herself.

The Archbishop then departed from the plane and made her way to her her specially requested pink limousine. As she approached the pink limousine, a very large crowd of Nicoleizians had gathered to catch a glimpse of the Archbishop as she made her first visit to the UNSR. "Ich bin ein Icholasener!" Mikaela announced, with her hand raised, to the crowd before stepping into her limousine which took her to the soiree.

Upon arriving at the soiree, the Archbishop performed her usual ritual of beelining straight to getting some drinks. "I'll have a White Nicoleizian, please! As they say, once you go White, well... I don't know what they say actually. Two shots, though, please?"

For Matthew François, head of the Elthic Green Party (better known as The Greens) it was quite the journey from Forecoaster to Saint Romain. His country had stopped all connections between the two nations since the communists kicked out the previous government in 2020, and the country, especially the Grimwald administration, did not recognize the UNSR at all. While the establishment of the Federal Republic was good news for those hoping for a restoration of relations between the two nations, it is unclear whether Elthize wishes to do so, as the country still only recognizes the United Dominions of Icholasen, the pre-2020 government.

Although his party's members advised against him going to Saint Romain on the fears of being vilified by the pro-Grimwald media, as the fourth largest party in the Elthic parliament, he simply had to be there. So he evaluated the most environmentally friendly method of transportation from Elthize to Icholasen: obviously, automobiles were out. He considered sailing, but that would take too long, as would any marine transit. As a result, the only alternative left was to fly from Forecoaster to Saint Dominico in Inquista, then to Saint Romain. These two flights would be François' first in almost twenty years, which, while he would want to go even further and not fly for the rest of his life, was nevertheless an impressive achievement.

After finding his way to the conference room, François did not hesitate to speak:

"Ladies, gentlemen, and those who wish to not identify as either, I am honoured to be here today and forever thankful to the most excellent President Anne-Marie David for this incredibly important conference. My name is Matthew François, and I am the leader of the Elthic Green Party, and I have held this position for two decades so far, starting my job in July 2001. I highly value this meeting to the point where I had my first flight since around 2002, and I would like to begin by stating the obvious: The current climate crisis we are facing at moment is one of the worst things we need to overcome as the European Union and as humanity."

"I would like to then talk about our story as The Greens in Elthize... Unfortunately, The State of Elthize has been one of the worst offenders when it comes to ignorance on this very important topic, particularly after 2002, when Former President Archibald Franklin was elected. Around that time, we were making good noise: Our protests and strikes on this crisis, back then we called it global warming, were attended by thousands, and it seemed like the Elthic people were being aware of what they were being led to by our corrupt administration."

"And our efforts were for basically nothing, as the liberals, the right, and so-called "progressives" ignored us, and acted like we were a bunch of crazy people that are just overreacting, they thought we were being nonsensical. Archie Franklin led the anti-green crusade. That corrupt crook directly called me a parasite, saying that I sabotaged the economical progress of Elthize, and at the time we were protesting against fracking. He went as far as directly targeting one of my MPs! That resulted in slander and harassing against them so intense that they had to retire from politics completely, and I wish not to speak of their name to respect their privacy, in case the mob goes out of its way to attack them again."

"We do not have the same energy as we used to have in the early 2000s. The Greens are still getting consistent votes and seats in the Elthic parliament, but our voices are consistently ignored, particularly by Grimwald's administration, which has no issue slandering the opposition as it wants, calling us "troublemakers", saying that all we want to do is cause chaos, whenever we do our job, aka opposing them! Grimwald has no concern for the environment. He, just like his predecessor, keeps relaxing and repealing what's left of our already weak environmental protection laws. At a time when we need to progress and achieve what seems impossible, we are regressing in the name of a couple of florins. And this is why I value this meeting. Elthize is a small country, its story is not one that's told often, so we're ignored. I know this is a long speech, and I apologize for that, but I am forever grateful to have this chance, and I could not waste it with a bad introduction. I wish us all a good meeting, hope we can agree more than we disagree."

It seemed no one had come to the casting call.

"Well this is unfortunate." Anne-Marie David said.

"While we're here..." said Elvira Lovescome. "Why don't you just name me Councillor ? I could do a great job."

"Go on then. If that is all, Your Holiness, I shall be on my way back to Saint Romain to keep the New Republic going. God Bless." She saluted.

Slavomíra Černá was quite comfortable in her fairly new position of Czech Ambassador to Inquista. She was away from affairs inside the Socialist Republican Party, away from important decision making at home yet also away from the attention of President Reiserová while maintaining an important position. This situation worked for both women and Černá wasn't expecting that anything would change. That is why she was shocked to discovered, that President Reiserová has send her a message requesting her presence at the meeting between the UNSR and Free Icholasen. Despite the negative feelings both of them felt towards the other, Reiserová recognized Černá as liked by the Archbishop Kligenberg and very familiar with Korojaunu Sanders, the only time Reiserová saw Sanders, she was still an actress preparing to play a military commander in a video game. Černá quickly went to the airport and left for Prague.

In Prague,Černá, in a conservative dress, was greeted by President Reiserová dressed in a military uniform of the People's Army of the Democratic Republic of Czech Slavia, Reiserová's way of demonstrating her importance to the foreign representatives while hiding how truly small she still felt compared to them. To Černá it again and immediately reminded the main reason she disliked Reiserová's form of governance. To her it seemed that there no longer was any depth towards anything, there was nothing real, everything was an act, everything was replaced by shallowness. While Reiserová was officialy the Head of the Armed Forces and had the right to wear a military uniform, her only connection to the army was the role of the military commander in a video game, and even then her character was scratched, as defeating the character played by the President in a game would be considered an insult to the state. Yet there she stood, a former b-movie actress, in a military uniform, smiling. And yet, all she said to her was: "Comrade President, the Ingenious Leader of the Nation, I am very pleased to see you again"

The flight to Europolis was mostly silent and after landing both women refused to comment to the press before the meeting. Heading to the building quickly. There both of them greeted other representatives, Reiserová by saluting before shaking their hand, and tokk a seat waiting for the meeting to officialy begin.

Once everyone has arrived Premier Commissioner Čikarová stood up and begun her short speech.

"Ladies and gentlemen, honored guests, I am honored to welcome you in Europolis and begin the meeting between the Union of Nicoleizian Socialist Republics and the Nine Dominions of Icholasen. I believe it will be productive and will pave a way for a peaceful resolution of the conflict and for a prosperous future of not only Icholasen, but the entire Europe and you have the full support of the European Commission in achieving those goals.

I can't sadly stay here with you, but in spirit I will be here with you. Ladies and gentlemen, I ask you to act wisely so that the future generations may live happy lives, safe from the dangers of an armed conflict and from suffering. And so that they may look back at this meeting as a step towards a happy and prosperous life. Peace will prevail. Thank you."

After finishing her speech, Čikarová put her hand on Daggot's shoulder, before leaving the room and leaving Daggot to preside over the meeting.

Mikaela tried her best not to cry during the beautiful marriage ceremony, but she couldn't help herself. It was such a sweet and tender wedding, and both Carlos and Tommy looked like two beautiful lovebirds. Mikaela was simply too much of a romantic to stop herself from crying from the sidelines. The Archbishop's make up streaked across her face, and she looked like a hot mess. Mikaela was in a hurry to find a bathroom shortly after the wedding ceremony was complete, so she could touch up on her make up and look stunning in the post-ceremony pictures.

Mikaela had organised for the photographer who snapped the scandalous pictures of Severina to take the pictures at the wedding. After posing with Tommy, Carlos, Anastasia and a few other guests, Mikaela felt satisfied with the amount of Instagram content she would have for the days to come.

After snapping some pictures and mingling with some guests, it was finally time for Mikaela to address her final order of business: her suitors. Mikaela had originally thought it would be cute for V (or any member of BTS) to have a dance battle with Johnny, but she decided that she wanted to be surprised by their talents instead, and opted for a variety show.

The reception room had been converted into a small auditorium, where 4 chairs faced a stage. Mikaela decided she needed some input from her close confidants on the matter, so she invited Tommy, Carlos, and the most dangerous critic she knew, Paloma Faith, to join her on the panel of Mikaela's Suitors Got Talent.

Whenever the suitors were ready, they could present any sort of performance of their liking, hoping to woo the judging panel.

One Last Stop Off

"Hello DU - again ! This is my third 'visit', and I am so happy to be here again.

The elections are popping off all over Europe - and I need your help to make sure that the EU is represented by someone who both believes in returning sovereignty from Europolis, and someone who can return this sovereignty to your people -- and all European people.

Think of the shock that mine (and Sofie Čikarová's) election would bring to Europolis. The EPA and their allies would be forced to listen to Duxburians for the first time in a long time.

Often the DU is ignored and sidelined in these elections -- candidates from the EPA and their allies used to be certain that they could win these elections without consulting the EU's largest nation. Their path to power went a different route. Don't let them ignore you !

I have included the DU and its priorities at the heart of my campaign - ideals such as sovereignty, a respect and an appreciation for cultures that are different.

And so I need to earn every single Duxburian vote I can.

I see where Leeson voters are coming from, and I do agree with him on some EU constitutional matters. But his policies are just not feasible -- a constitutional amendment is a real feat to achieve. Čikarova's potential power to propose a budget is another method to promote change, and my influence within the Commission will be a bonus to achieving a budget that returns more money to our nationstates.

And so, it's a simple proposition: vote for me for achievable reforms which will return sovereignty, and equally as importantly, money. Or, vote for Leeson or Biden who might let Granger in through the back door.

The choice is clear. Vote for a real change, vote for someone who will shake up EU politics for the better.

I hope this would be acceptable."

Well, that was it for her. This was her only chance for asylum; later today, while Kurz still had power to do so, she would be deported back to Eastern Haane; back not to the safe places but to those that remained under the control of the Assemblies; she, and thousands of her countrymen, over the next few weeks, would die, simply because she could not win this contest.

She had received the phone-call saying all this from that vampire a few hours ago; she had rushed to board a flight to Europolis, and now was there. She would have to return soon; her provisional alien's passport would expire soon. Vampire - a good word for describing that excuse of a man. He had promised her - promised her! - that she would not be deported if she were able to get at least one 12. But no, now he had changed his mind. She had no use to him, and thus would be expelled from the country.

She replayed that voice, that terrible voice, in her head. "Well, it's goodbye for you!" he had said so cheerfully. "Goodbye for you and all your friends!" He wanted them to die painfully; he did not care for them at all if they could not give him anything. And now - now they would die.

Die, die, die, die, die. Her thoughts were filled with the word, as she imagined the various ways she could die. Perhaps she would be eaten alive; perhaps she would be crucified; who knew?

She did not wear a costume; she had no time to put one on after the call.

She climbed onto the stage, ignoring the fight, ignoring those who were about to speak. Picking up a megaphone carelessly tossed aside by someone she had seen fleeing from the scene, she walked to the front of the stage, and spoke.

"This has," she said, tears welling, "been both an amazing and terrible Eurovoice. One has won; all others have lost. That was an inevitability. I am among those in the latter group, and I...and I accept that gracefully, for I am not a coward. Unlike these people behind me, who fight pettily, refusing to believe that their decision making was perfect, I admit my own flaws, admit my own failings, and attempt to improve."

She paused.

"But I cannot do so, for I am to die within a few hours. I failed here, and for that, I pay with my asylum and my life. In five hours, no longer will I be allowed to remain in Austria; I will be deported, along with hundreds of my countrymen, to Eastern Haane, dropped from high above the plains of its south, where the murderous Assemblies remain in power. Twelve hours from now, I expect that we all in the first batch of deportees will be dead. Eventually, the rest of us will all be deported to that place of evil, the rest of us in Austria, and we will certainly all die, simply because I was not able to captivate Europe. I am a terrible singer, a terrible musician - what else could I be if I was not even able to save my compatriots, my countrymen, from death? I must return now; the provisional passport that the Austrian government has lent me is soon to be revoked. Goodbye, Europe; goodbye forever."

Agnes ran from the stage, out of the chateau, and hailed a taxi to the airport. It was over for her, over forever. All that awaited her was pain and death.
